Bodybuilding is my passion, so it doesn't take much to motivate me. I have a hard time staying AWAY from the gym.
^ Ain't that the truth! Actually, I haven't been skiing since high school, but we did cancel our annual ice fishing trip this year...
Anyway... to get in on the thread...
Between my birthday (end of october), and through the holidays, I lost 20 lbs. I did this primarily through calorie counting. I more or less stayed the same weight until now without a whole lot of effort, but now I'm back on the plan. I've lost 3 lbs in the last week!
I found that it's much easier to reduce your calorie intake through diet, instead of increasing your calorie output through exercise. Probably not the best way to go, but it seems to be working. I do need to start walking again, which has been my primary source of exercise in the past. The problem I have, which I think is pretty common these days, is that my job consists of me sitting on my ass for 8+ hours a day. By the time 6-7 o'clock comes around, I'm so tired, I just cant seem to do anything. I mostly tele-commute, but I started taking the bus on the 1 or 2 days a week that I actually go into the office. It was amazing to me how sore I was after the first day of riding the bus, since I have to transfer half way through the trip. I walked maybe a block, and it's pathetic just how out of shape I'm in.
Well, I'm working on it, anyway. I might have to vent here time to time though...
You and me both. I go the the gym 5 times a week, hitting the weights, doing abs, etc. However, I am cursed with "The Polish Metabolism" that's where a guy of Polish background like me has an awful time getting bigger in muscle size. I mean I can bench 220, I can do 350 on a vertical leg press, I have squated 225, I can do 450 on a normal leg press, I can curl 80 pounds, I can press 160 pounds over my head, I got good abs, etc.....
.....but I only weigh 150-160 pounds. It's a bitch being able to lift among with the big dudes, but being "the strong skinny guy" that each gym seems to have.
And I eat like a horse and I don't go more than 2 hours between eating.
You don't have to deny yourself. You can treat yourself to KFC once in a while without feeling guilty just so long as you don't make it something you eat on a daily basis.I want KFC SO bad, but I'm continuing to resist.
