Diet & Fitness Support Thread

So i accidently ate a half of a chocolate cake in a 20min sitting....this getting in shape thing is working out well

I am an emotional eater. I forgot to move the cake to some place where i didnt see it as soon as i got upstairs and wound up getting really upset at something. Accident waiting to happen.

Bodybuilding is my passion, so it doesn't take much to motivate me. I have a hard time staying AWAY from the gym.

You and me both. I go the the gym 5 times a week, hitting the weights, doing abs, etc. However, I am cursed with "The Polish Metabolism" that's where a guy of Polish background like me has an awful time getting bigger in muscle size. I mean I can bench 220, I can do 350 on a vertical leg press, I have squated 225, I can do 450 on a normal leg press, I can curl 80 pounds, I can press 160 pounds over my head, I got good abs, etc.....

.....but I only weigh 150-160 pounds. :alienblush: It's a bitch being able to lift among with the big dudes, but being "the strong skinny guy" that each gym seems to have. :( And I eat like a horse and I don't go more than 2 hours between eating.

Got any ideas to help my arm training, especially the outer bicep heads? And any way to fix the gap between the end of the bicep and the elbow?

^ Ain't that the truth! Actually, I haven't been skiing since high school, but we did cancel our annual ice fishing trip this year...

Anyway... to get in on the thread...

Between my birthday (end of october), and through the holidays, I lost 20 lbs. I did this primarily through calorie counting. I more or less stayed the same weight until now without a whole lot of effort, but now I'm back on the plan. I've lost 3 lbs in the last week!

I found that it's much easier to reduce your calorie intake through diet, instead of increasing your calorie output through exercise. Probably not the best way to go, but it seems to be working. I do need to start walking again, which has been my primary source of exercise in the past. The problem I have, which I think is pretty common these days, is that my job consists of me sitting on my ass for 8+ hours a day. By the time 6-7 o'clock comes around, I'm so tired, I just cant seem to do anything. I mostly tele-commute, but I started taking the bus on the 1 or 2 days a week that I actually go into the office. It was amazing to me how sore I was after the first day of riding the bus, since I have to transfer half way through the trip. I walked maybe a block, and it's pathetic just how out of shape I'm in.

Well, I'm working on it, anyway. I might have to vent here time to time though...

Becareful with mere calorie counting.....you might loose weight, but most of the time it's muscle tissue you are loosing, which is not good. It's one thing to be the skinny guy, but don't be the skinny fat guy. :)

 You sound like my husband. He works out like a maniac - currently squatting 275, among other ridiculous big heavy weights - and eats really well, and he only weighs 175 lbs. He knows he just has practically no genetic potential to get big and muscly (you can tell by how skinny his wrists and ankles are :)) but he keeps working at it.

The good news is, most women find that lean-but-hard build to be very attractive. ;)

Plans fell apart over the weekend, but I was back at it again today, and even managed to jog most of the way home after the gym, at least until it started pouring rain.

great job moocey.. Keep it up!!!

I'm back to regular raquetball games this week now that the stitches in my raquet hand have been removed and the gash I got after falling off my bike last weekend is healing nicely... Damn I've been a slug since.. Only been on my bike once since the mishap...

Played my first real softball game in 15 years, went two for three with a walk. HAd a lot of fun, we lost by six runs...

Down 2 pounds since last week...I want KFC SO bad, but I'm continuing to resist. Every day it's getting a tiny bit less exhausting to run over to the gym, so that's good.

I do. Between being a personal trainer for 7 years, a degree in exercise science and a minor in nutrition, and a lot of research recently, I'm good to go. Plus, nearly 1/3 of that was protein/mrp.

I'll make sure to post the "after" pix. :techman:

No need to show off.

And good. I'm glad. Supplements are useless to people who don't know what they're doing.
