Regular brownies are on the blue plate. Don’t eat those on the red plate. It’s clear you’re not ready for that yet.Hear me out. The Klingons are all of sudden talking about peace. Martock wants the Klingons join the Federation. Alexander one day show up on Admiral Janeways farm in Indiana. He is near death. He has come to warn her. The Klingon high council has been taken over by the parasite aliens. Janeway realizes she can't tell Starfleet this But she knows who she can talk to get to the bottom of this.
Cut to Captain Seven of Nine on vacation on RIsa with her new lover, Ezri Dax. Things it seems didn't work out with Julian after he dumped her for Garak. She gets a call. She needs Seven to go on a secret Starfleet mission to get to the bottom of what is going on but she can't use Starfleet people to help her. She is going to need to round up some of her old Fenris rangers to help her out. She will need a ship as well. A Klingon ship.
She rounds up a motley crew indeed. With the help of Quark who is able to track them down for her. Thadiun Okona. Who now just happens to own a Klingon ship. A foul mouth Vulcan hologram who was programmed to be a sexy Surak for some sex program but now has his wisdom but also years of experience as a criminal. The kid that one of the Duras sisters had. She is now grown up and a pirate. Then an android like those ones we saw in Picard season 1 that looked sort of like Data but not.
I'm not entirely surprised he doesn't seem to be entirely open to criticisms about his fanfic. He seems to just try to shut it down or responds passive aggressively.
That's really disappointing for a "professional" writer to still get that defensive over a single question. Doesn't help my perception of him and how he handled everything around his responsibilities as a showrunner. The sad part is I wasn’t even trying to be critical.
I asked (what I thought to be) a reasonable question, and he went off a bit. Not terribly, but raised voice and defensive for sure.
I must have hit a nerve I didn’t know was exposed…
Has to be asked: What was the question? What question could possibly give Thy Lord Terry a moment's pause? The sad part is I wasn’t even trying to be critical.

"Because it's Picard" is an excuse, not a justification.I asked him if all the fire imagery in Season 3 was a purposeful misdirection (I never associated The Borg with fire. Early on I thought it might be the Pah Wraiths).
He said something to the effect of “Come on. It’s Jean Luc Picard! It was always going to be the Borg. It had to be the Borg” in a tone that conveyed he thought the question was stupid. I just thought maybe it was done on purpose to make the reveal more of a surprise…
Which didn’t really answer my question, but I let it go at that point.
Very reasonable and correct.I asked him if all the fire imagery in Season 3 was a purposeful misdirection (I never associated The Borg with fire. Early on I thought it might be the Pah Wraiths).
Wow his creativity really is deep as a puddle then. Any benefit of the doubt that he might have just got swept up in uniting the TNG cast would be inaccurate. He said something to the effect of “Come on. It’s Jean Luc Picard! It could have been Joe from Starfleet Accounting.

What that demonstrates to me is how shallow, rigid, and predictable his tastes are as a writer, and a lack of self-reflection, too. There are so many other possibilities for the final boss for Picard other than the Borg that it's shitty of him to have treated your question like it was stupid.I asked him if all the fire imagery in Season 3 was a purposeful misdirection (I never associated The Borg with fire. I was always suspicious of that guy…
Especially since there’s no money in the Federation!

Half the season (maybe even more than half) was a DS9 story. The borg wasn’t even a thought for the audience until late into it. If it was always a borg story, then Vadic ended up being an unnecessary character and killing off Hugh was even a worse decision. He said something to the effect of “Come on. It’s Jean Luc Picard! Is that the show about the old country Klingon lawyer?Martock
I love Picard season 3 and I think many of the criticisms here are misplaced. However, I do think the Borg have been way overused in Trek, and I have never understood the "it had to be the Borg" thing.I asked him if all the fire imagery in Season 3 was a purposeful misdirection (I never associated The Borg with fire. Early on I thought it might be the Pah Wraiths).
