Someone on I think it was twitter expressed to Matalas their displeasure at the treatment the F got and he replied with something really childish along the lines of I could have just made it the E and had the Titan become the F but I wanted to do something nice for STO fans or words to that effect as if acknowledging something exists then shitting on it is enough. And he also acts like renaming the Titan to Enterprise was always the plan which we know it wasn't. It just irritates me how high on his own supply he was and blind to the fact people just loved seeing the TNG cast.

The letter is one of the worst things ever introduced to the franchise.
I actually thought they did a pretty brilliant job of constructing a scenario in which the "old guard" and the old ship were the only solutions to the problem. And I thought it did a good job for once of running counter to Hollywood's obsession with youth and newness, showing that older people are still valuable and still have purpose.

Probably not. After all, we have a history of numerous real ships named Enterprise -- one is currently being built, in fact -- but they don't each get the same registry number. Still, this is entertainment and there's no question that seeing the NCC-1701-A in the theater was an emotional moment for fans. It is the fact that, like so many things in Trek, they later beat it into the ground that seems the problem to me.
I do not. To me, it comes across as poor messaging that you're only able to be important in one specific job.
I disagree with your interpretation of the messaging. I take it as a much more positive message that older people still have something valuable and worthwhile to contribute. I also take away the message from the season that newer ways of doing things are not necessarily better. And, of course, the very obvious message about our current society that interconnecting everything is royally stupid.
Now, all that being said, the fact is that many people do one thing for their entire careers and are perfectly happy with it. We have such an impatient society today that thinks there always must be change for the sake of change. I disagree. I happen to think Riker made the right decision in "Best of Both Worlds" that he was the happiest he had ever been in his life and there was no reason to go do something else just because the expectation is that it's time to move up. I happen to think Spock was right when he told Kirk that "commanding a starship is your first, best destiny; anything else is a waste of material."
Except it ignores any growth or change in favor of being a cog. I'm glad people take it positively..I personally find it offensive that the only place they can make a difference is in Starfleet on an ENTERPRISE.
Going back to the original topic, there is one streaming opportunity that has been missed. I wish we had more special features, or running the episodes with commentary or just more behind the scenes stuff. I noticed HBO Max has started to add ASL to their shows and I think that's pretty cool to represent fans who are deaf. I am sad that with the loss of DVD/Blu Ray we won't get many special features anymore, but I am interested in the behind the scenes stuff. Also, I wish they put the trailers for next week's episode up. I miss Star Trek trailers, and in the 90s, I always looked forward to it.
So if someone becomes an insurance agent, for example, and spends their entire career, from their 20's through their 60's, selling insurance and finds happiness and fulfillment in that, you have a problem with that?
