Tom Baker passing on "Five Doctors" was, imho, definitely to its benefit as it took away one face fighting for screen time. And I say that wanting to have seen the version where Tom is the Doctor who carries the episode.
I agree with all that, but I do like that The Three Doctors is first and foremost a Third Doctor serial, cause he's the current Doctor - just like Day of the Doctor, at its core, its an Eleventh Doctor serial as he changes his mind and informs his past self that he can, in fact, change the future, because unlike the Warrior and the Hero (Ten), he's just the Doctor.
(typing this just made me miss the Eleventh Doctor, btw)
This is correct, but I have one slight irritation with it. I wish Eleven had been able to see that the Warrior was someone who needed his help on his own rather than needing Clara to tell him so. While, yes, Clara spent time with the Warrior in the Black Archive, they had that heart-to-heart, and she came to know him better than his future selves did, Eleven was letting the trauma he remembered and had marinated in for four hundred years get in his way of seeing that the Warrior was a broken man in need of healing. If Clara had not been in the barn, Eleven still would have pressed the button with his younger selves. He needed Clara to tell him there had to be another way.
That is fair. In fact, the reason she's there is because she is the avatar of all the companions ever, but it could've been slightly tweaked as if to have her pick up on Eleven's hesitance thus her reaction, but as is it does come off as her nudging was the essence.
Also, I find it odd that the Eleventh apparently talked about the Time War "all the time" with Clara. He never seemed to bring up with Amy, from what we know!
