I don't think cancellation improved MST3K post-1999 (the Jonah and subsequent streaming and Gizmoplex seasons were, at best, a very mixed bag), but the show didn't miss a step when Comedy Central cancelled it in 1996 and the Sci-Fi Channel picked it up. The original 1989-99 cable run is largely fantastic and where 99.9% of my fond memories and feelings about the show originate.
Those are the ones I'm watching on YT. The rest? Okay sometimes, but TV's Son of Frank isn't funny to me.
SeaQuest? The 2032 epidodes are largely dreadful and the show got cancelled partway through an already abridged final season.
I always enjoyed Kirsty Alleys Rebecca character in Cheers than Shelly Longs Diane.
As a 10 year old, I didn't quite understand a story where the charming leading man is rejected week after week.
Not sure about Earth Final Conflict. But it's been a very long time since I saw the show. Bewitched did okay with switching Darrin's but I am more a DIck York man myself. Granted not sure if it also counts because Samantha was the main star.

I liked that change also but we get back to my Darrin situation in that Ted Danson was the main star. If he had left I wonder if they would have made Woody as the new lead and then have him and Rebecca fall for each other.
I became a fan watching it on Sci Fi channel for the first time. I would then go and buy as many VCR tapes of the old episodes.
I never watched it but understand the conners was very good as a rebranded show after Roseanne Barr was sacked
It was okay. It never got as good as the show was back in it's heyday though of the late 80's and early 90's.
The thing about Law & Order is that it's plot-driven, not character-driven. Didn't Dick Wolf call it actor-proof?
Mission: Impossible didn't star Jim Phelps until season 2.

I loved the late '80s revival when I was in junior high school. The continuation with Phil Morris and Jane Badler.
Mandy Patinkin bailed on Criminal Minds and Joe Mantegna took over in season 3 and the show is still going.
David Caruso left NYPD Blue four episodes into season 2, got replaced by Jimmy Smits, and by the time Smits left, it was clear the real star was Dennis Franz.
Superboy recast John Haymes Newton after season 1.
How about Night Court? The beloved cast took years to assemble, with Charles Robinson (season 2), Markie Post (guest season 2, regular season 3) and Marsha Warfield (season 4).

Yep. When Night Court launched in January 1984 only Harry, Dan and Bull were already there.
