Spoilers Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

One wonders if Lanthanites have very extended childhoods to correspond to their near immortality.

Of course, given Ake's son was likely only a quarter, it might not have mattered. But still.

Come to think of it, is Jay-Den only like 10 or whatever, since TNG/DS9 established Alexander was born in 2366, and serving on a Klingon ship by 2374?

I always got the sense we were supposed to pretend that Alexander was older than he should have been in universe - the trope is called "soap opera aging".

Alexander fell into a temporal anomaly before meeting his father. It's a further testament to what a bad dad Worf is that he never asked about it.

Tragic.

Look at Naomi Wildman. She's elementary school age by the time she's barely two or three in the chronological progression of the show she's in.

When we talked to talked to you and Gaia a couple of weeks ago, you teased the season 2 finale a bit. So just to be clear, would you call it a cliffhanger?

Noga Landau:
I would say it is a cliffhanger. It is a cliffhanger at the end of season 2.

The season 1 finale wraps up cleanly, even though you knew you had another season. But for season 2 you don’t know, so why go with a cliffhanger?

Noga Landau:
Honestly it’s because we listened to what our story wanted to be, and we went with it. We wrote it the way that it felt organic and natural. And I hope we get to keep making many more seasons of Starfleet Academy, because we have a lot more story to tell.

Honestly, what little anticipation I had just got halved. I now know I can look forward to a season that does not actually finish, and possibly might never finish. What a shitty decision.

Maybe wait to see if it gets renewed before starting the next season. Season 1 wrapped everything up so well that it's a surprisingly decent place to stop.

This does not dampen my excitement for season 2 but much like with Legends of Tomorrow I really wish showrunners wouldn't play chicken with renewals when in a time of uncertainty regarding the platform they air on.

I will mourn Academy if it does end at season 2 and there will be some bitterness regarding an eternal cliffhanger but the journey to that point I have every faith after season 1 will be a great ride.

The series final will have the Borg return and assimilate all the characters. 3 Borg ships surround Earth and are ready to start assimilating the planet. Will the crew get out this situation? Can Earth be saved? Tune into season 3!!!!! Thus ends Kurtzman Trek!

Set's are still there, so there's always the possibility that Paramount will allow her to come back and do some emergency re-shoots once the cancellation goes through.

They are going to have borg ships to surround federation space. With their powers combined they will teleport in the mega giant omega molecule powered cube that is the size of 10 solar systems.

We have reached Kurtzman has hit the limit of his talent.

That is a shitty decision.

Ehh, I look at it this way - I’d rather the show write the story in an organic way that makes sense for what they wanna do rather than condense everything down into something that feels rushed and unsatisfying.

We don’t know what kind of cliffhanger it is, and we don’t know what the future holds. Still a lot of time to go before season 2 even airs. I’m not gonna go doom and gloom on things just yet.

One of my favorite shows ended in a cliffhanger. I'm ok with it

I have the power of limitless headcanon if and it still most assuredly if we are faced with premature cancellation on a cliffhanger followed by a complete abandoning of the universe. It's not a guaranteed worst case scenario just yet.
