There's debate that Kovich/Daniels' baseball on his history shelf in his office isn't Sisko's original in-universe but one of many he owned, not the one on his office desk for the longevity of DS9.
Ah, I see. But we know he had more than one anyway. The desk one and the one signed by his Niners.

A nearly great episode that misses the mark., but it almost doesn't matter, as your Trekkie kids will be talking about it 15 years from now.

The synergy between the Emissary stories is great however, and so is the DS9 nostalgia. A 9 out of 10.

In short, Dax wasn't planned to be part Cardassian. When Tawny was given the part, they decided she would need to be an alien, with some form of prosthetic so she didn't just look like Trill Mariner. So she and Noga were given a menu of ready prosthetics and Tawny picked Cardassian as she felt it matched the character.

It's probably better the character were part Cardassian anyway. If she were pure Trill, we'd figure it out right away "oh, she's totally the current Dax, isn't she?" I guess they could have done the thing they did in the episode anyway where the Trill spots were covered and aren't revealed until the end when she's brushes her hair back, but if they did that and she were a pure Trill, that would feel like a cop out, IMO.

Well, I wanted to like this one because I love DS9. It really deserved a 6, but I gave it a 7 for the nice end with Jake.

Way too much talking by far. This series really just has it's characters standing around talking most of the time. Gee we got to watch her visit a fricking museum. Maybe actually go to fucking Bajor and the wormhole. Go fucking investigate! Ugh.

We just get a museum visit.

Well, it was nice seeing Jake at the end. Lovely part really in an otherwise lacking story.

Tawny literally says in the video they only decided to make the character Cardassian after it was suggested she be cast for the role. Are you calling her a liar?

It was Alex (presumedly Kurtzman) who suggested she be put in prosthetics so she would look less like Mariner, but it was Kirsten and Tawny that decided on Cardassian.

If she were pure Trill, we'd figure it out right away "oh, she's totally the current Dax, isn't she?"
Possible they re-wrote the story after. Maybe it was originally not intended to be a mystery.
Or just like in the final episode, she had hair that would hide the spots.

So just like most Star Trek.

Thinking about it, you have to wonder how much research did Sam actually did on the subject given it shouldn't have have taken more then a single query to figure out Illa was Dax.

Sure, all ST has talking. But this series has fucking tons of it. That's pretty much all they do. Not entirely but mostly.

Like I said, SAM should've gone to fucking Bajor, the wormhole, and DS9 itself to really investigate. Instead, we get a museum. Oh, sorry, not even a real museum but a virtual one.

I do actually get not showing all of DS9 itself. That would be difficult. But surely some Bajor and scenes with the wormhole and prophets.

But if they can't afford to tell the story, they should not set themselves up for failure.

When they set up a mystery like that, many of us want to see an investigation.

Instead we went to a museum virtual museum.

Not seeing the problem.

I'm baffled by this one. Trek has always been dialogue-heavy on television in the last 60 years, so complaining about characters talking a bunch is odd.
I've elaborated on what I've meant. It's not that hard (for most people at least) to understand. That doesn't mean you have to agree. But, no, it's not baffling. Again, for most people.

To each their own right? Surely, you can understand that?

I don't see your "elaboration".
Look, you don't need agree, obviously. But it is a very much a stand around and talk series. In other series, they tend to do more. Yes, they also talk but often there is more action.

I totally respect those who enjoy SFA for what it is. Not all series need to be more action oriented. That's fine. I'm not trying to convince you otherwise. I expressing my own opinion, which is the purpose of a BBS after all.

For instance, I would have preferred that SAM had done an actual investigation rather than visiting a virtual and mostly talking.

That makes SFA is a bit more meh for me. You do you though. If you like SFA how it is, I'm actually glad for you.
