Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

TOS did it three separate times, though the Enterprise did U-turns and went back into our own galaxy each time. TNG also did it in an early first season episode, the one with the Traveler.
I disqualified Where No Man Has Gone Before because Kirk orders the Enterprise out of the Barrier before they finish the crossing.

When the manual gets reference on screen I'll take that more seriously.

Left the Milky Way and passed through two galaxies and ended up on the far side of Triangulum (M33).

In a few minutes.
One of my favorite episodes. Just pure adventure and exploration. Not much of that when it comes to just a single episode of space traveling and encountering weird phenomena in deep space these days. STA seems to be going the major khan villain route. Getting tired of that kind of story.

For such a great distance, for the universe it is still only considered in our local group of galaxies.
I plotted the probable trajectory in the episode (in yellow), based on our current understanding of the universe.

I'm guessing the two galaxies travelled through are satellite galaxies of Andromeda (And. II & And. III).
