My quibbles with Season 3 aside, SNW is a fantastic Trek series and the best thing streaming Trek has given us. "Middling" is a word, yeah, but more applicable to PIC and DSC. A lot more.

Spock's Brain is one of the worst Trek episodes put to film yet I consider TOS great. Profit and Lace is an insulting drek level episode yet many consider DS9 great.
The puppet episode doesn't take away from SNW and its enjoyable characters. It's not all or nothing.
The differecee is SNW has had just over a seasons worth of episodes and at least half of those stink..Because great shows are always great?

And if half stink? So what? TOS was 79 episodes, about 30 good ones, which works out to 37 percent. Half is a better ratio than that.
He hasn't been fired yet, don't count your chickens before they hatch.
Plus we have 2 seasons of SFA and SNW to go, and I doubt they'll air all of them in the same year, so change that to 2027.

TOS is my favorite Trek series and even I don't think it had 65 good ones.

While I am as sick of the tired old 90210 comparisons the peanut gallery has been making, it is premature to say this clip "nixes" the idea that's what the show will be. The clip is four minutes out of what will presumably be a fifty to sixty minute long episode, meaning there will be plenty of time for the teen angst and "90210-isms" the angry fanboy crowd fears this show will include. Indeed, given a majority of the cast are the young cadets who are barely featured in the clip I'm not sure how we can make those kind of conclusions.
Not a lot, actually. Looking over scripted programs on the networks for the 2024-25 season:
ABC only had one show go over 20 episodes, which did 22
CBS only had six shows to go over 20 episodes, which did 22
Fox only had four shows to go over 20 episodes, which did 22
NBC only had six shows to go over 20 episodes, which did 22.
So only seventeen network shows did more than twenty episodes last season. And eight of those are Dick Wolf shows.
