Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley developing Star Trek reboot for Paramount

Why?

Picard S3 is Kurtzman too. You can't pick and choose which Kurtzman projects are prime timeline.

But kurtzman had little if nothing to do with it. Matalas seemed to be running the show on that one. But for it to work we would need all 3 seasons as canon unfortunately. But I can live with the first two even though they sucked really bad as long as 3 remains canon.

Or, you grew up with it and thus accepted it without question. Now, decades later you subject new Star Trek to a higher level of scrutiny (having become aware of the machinations behind the various shows' creations, and the world of sci-fi entertainment being infinitely bigger now), while protecting your treasured childhood memories behind doctrine.
Art shouldn't evolve at the expense of the previous art.

the sacred timeline.

This isn't a defense of SNW. It's my extremely simple opinion that TOS doesn't fit with future productions.

TOS fit with the TOS films, TNG, DS9, VOY and even ENT just fine. It even fit with the Kelvin timeline films, despite them taking place in an alternate universe, because the aesthetic cues in those films were clearly influenced by TOS. It wasn’t until DSC that someone decided to change literally everything about TOS to conform to their new aesthetic. Heck, even LDS and PRO fit with TOS better than DSC did.

SNW is a product of the want to reverse course and make the aesthetic more like TOS again, but with the hampering that they still feel the need to acknowledge the abrupt change that originated with DSC. So now we have a hodgepodge show with both the DSC and TOS aesthetic existing side by side, with the producers giving the excuse that it’s a ‘visual reboot’ because they have no better way to explain it.

Quite right. All their set production as well looks very much the same. If I wasnt told it no would think the academy show was taking place in the 23rd century disco shows.

Word is the academy show season two is the last of the kurtzman and bad robot productions. SNW I believe is done filming. I really hope so.

TOS was a product of the 1960s.

There's no going back to that era aesthetically.
