Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley developing Star Trek reboot for Paramount

What? Pike was in Mirror Mirror??
Surely this counts as a mention
COMPUTER: Captain James T. Kirk succeeded to command ISS Enterprise through assassination of Captain Christopher Pike. First action, suppression of Gorlan uprising through destruction of rebel home planet. Second action, execution of five thousand colonists on Vega Nine.

The difference is TMP was AFTER TOS and it could be seen as a natural progression. But if you stick DISCO and SNW in there it's all over the place. I'm not talking about set design either. Enterprise had a more detailed set but they didn't have holographic communication or fun house turbo lift interior etc....
It still doesn't work. The ship is wrong, Kirk is completely out of character, and the tech doesn't work the same.

No it's not a progression.

If i recall, it was used in Where No Man Has Gone Before.
Model footage of which was reused throughout all three seasons of TOS, so it's irrefutably canon.

None of which you mention interferes with story continuity.

Did you honestly think P+ was going air two shows featuring the Enterprise at the same time?

I knew this was not going to happen immediately. I also knew that Strange New Worlds would max out at five seasons.

They might have waited to start Legacy after SNW ends. Also I think they wanted to end is this next season. They talked them into 6 extra episodes.

The ship was updated, Kirk is not out of character at all. 😂 Now in SNW the ship is different than it should be and Kirk is out of character and looks like Jim Carey ...

Also, I think it's cool that the SNW Enterprise has grills.
And bears.

I offered my opinion. Your laughter won't change it.

Fandom has spent too long believing it's own hype.

TOS doesn't fit with anything else so why should SNW be any different?
Ridiculous. There's a natural, evolutionary flow in characters, ship design, etc, from TOS to TAS and into the TOS movies, which was the point, and the key to TOS-M working with ST fans. You can try to defend SNW until doomsday, but that series is like some fan films where the producers did not get the message that producing prequels never meant near total revision to the point it cannot fit in the established evolutionary line of plots, characters, designs, etc., present in the official productions.

This isn't a defense of SNW. It's my extremely simple opinion that TOS doesn't fit with future productions.

You can argue all you want. I use to think it but rewatching things and I see a difference.

May you find your way as pleasant.

Or, you grew up with it and thus accepted it without question. Now, decades later you subject new Star Trek to a higher level of scrutiny (having become aware of the machinations behind the various shows' creations, and the world of sci-fi entertainment being infinitely bigger now), while protecting your treasured childhood memories behind doctrine.

Why does it always devolve into these inane talking points. Art evolves, simple as that. "Canon" should never supersede an artistic endeavour. You don't have to like all art, in fact, that's the point - you should feel something in engaging with art, whether it's pleasure or distaste. But the thing you like will always exist regardless so fussing over differences is a head-scratcher.

What's strange is that nothing can take my memories, barring illness. The thing I love persists despite the evil of future productions ;)

Because of protectionist attitudes that feel defensive over personal preferences.

Exactly. If we get lucky Paramount will set the Kurtzman productions in a alternate time line thus putting the prime time line where it was before all the Kurtzman nonsense. Picard season 3 can stay though.
