i wonder if the final scene in the season 5 finale of strange new world will be of uhura spock christine and scotty joining kirk on deck of the starship enterprise

Yep. According to MA, the events spoken of in "Obsession" occurred in 2255. SNW starts at-or-around 2259.

Very surprised how many people seem to forget the incident with the Farragut and the vampire cloud is in the past. Even if you forgot the details of Obsession, we have seen the Farragut on SNW and the fact it's Captain is a Vulcan woman who is most certainly not Captain Garrovick should clue everyone in. Or so I would think, anyway.

Kirk was said to have been a lieutenant fresh out of the academy during his first encounter with the cloud creature in Obsession, and when we meet him in Strange New Worlds he's about to become first officer of the Farragut.

He was still a lieutenant in Lost in Translation, but his assignment as first officer of the Farragut was confirmed but still pending, so one can assume he became a lieutenant commander when he actually took over as first officer.
