Strange New Worlds disappointment

Some fuckwad on Yahoo or TikTok or YouTube said it was valid, so it must be so.
No Yahoo is an actual editorial op-ed that review tv shows. It is a professional review, so is TV guide.

clearly not all reviews should be taken with great meaning but when a tv show has an overall reception from critics who have similar feedbacks than there is a issue.

season 3 of SNW has been a critical failure, even the show runners have made excuses for this by blaming the writers strikes and also the RT audience score is at 53% percent rotten which is bad compared to the first two season that faired better.

As for now SNW is now in the discovery bad arena. I do wish they had waited to film season 4 after season 3 aired to get some feedback.

I think season 5 will be the real course correct, hopefully it would not be too late and some fans will still hang on to the end.

So what?

SNW has been been better received and has performed better for P+ than any other Trek show of the streaming era.

Go on and tell us that star travel using 'shrooms is "real science hypothesis" outside the fantasies of some hippy mycologist.*

*To any criticism that the link is a commercial website: Paul Stamets himself is a dude making bank by selling the public "mushroom supplements" wrapped in spiritual hokum. Clearly, one to be "remembered in history alongside...Elon Musk."

Just watched the season 3 opening episode...

I mostly liked the first two seasons but I was so bored with this episode. The Gorn resolution was rushed and barely even half baked. I'm currently doing a VOY rewatch after finishing TNG & DS9 reruns and this new Trek just isn't Trek enough.

I feel it is because of the gorn breaking too much cannon. you can tell in Season 3 they are doing a lot to make sure the show starts matching TOS even to the point that they had kirk/spock mind meld unnecessarily as a way to reinforce their bond of friendship and loyalty to each other.

The only thing that came off as a surprise was that they did not kill off laan or ortega since they are not in TOS. The best TOS call back in s3 was spock telling chapel her soup sucks. I thought that was a nice tribute to TOS Amok time even though it was on the nose.

La'an will give into her darker nature and join Section 31. Spock, refusing to forgive Section 31 for abducting and trying to brainwash him way back in Discovery, breaks up with her. By TOS, La'an is head of Section 31 and contacted for advice offscreen in Space Seed by Kirk, who asks for input on what to do with Khan. Wanting revenge against her ancestor and knowing that Ceti Alpha 6 will soon explode and that Ceti Alpha 5 is infested with brainwashing eels, tells Kirk to take the augments to Ceti Alpha 5 and erase all logs of Khan's takeover.

La'an, Ortegas, and anyone else not in TOS die of Protocol 12 overdoses. Kirk REALLY suspects M'Benga had something to do with it, but since he can't prove it he just demotes M'Benga from CMO.

La'an just dies on another time travel mission.

Why in the world would characters not seen in TOS have to die? It's the military ( yeah, I said it) people retire and transfer to new postings all of the time. The majority of crew we see in TOS ( and other Trek shows) disappear with out dying.

We never see Sybok in TOS and clearly he doesn't die for another two decades. April is in SNW but doesn't reappear until the final episode of TAS.

April also got demoted from fleet admiral to commodore and apparently is claiming he was an ambassador at large for the past 20 years in TAS even though he's shown as still in Starfleet and not an ambassador in SNW only 10 years before that.
