Sci-fi interiors in general are much larger than the exteriors created for them because no one during production of a sci-fi film/show has the time to really think this sort of thing through until long after the fact. I don't believe the interior of the Millennium Falcon fits with its established exterior dimensions either--I doubt you could fit the Galaxy's Edge Falcon interior rooms inside the actual exterior model shown at Disneyland/World easily.

The 442 meter thing probably makes more sense even from what we saw in TOS than the 289 meters. Who decided on 289 meters back in the day for the reference guide they were writing and why?

DS9's ratings continued to worsen even as the series got better and more engaging. Same with ENT. Both shows saw improved storylines and fan reactions but the Nielsens for both were in steady decline for much of their respective runs.

Post pilot and overall for the entirety of their syndicated runs. The only Berman era series that saw an increase overall, was TNG.

They straight up forgot Leila Kalomi didn't they? I know that Kalomi's line of "I've never seen a starship before" limits things but that line was nonsensical even at the time (how did she get to Omicron Seti 3 from Earth if not by starship? She must've meant Starfleet ship)

Yeah “starship” was supposed to be a special class separate from freighters and such, rather than just a general description of interstellar ships. I think her saying she’s never seen a starship is just one of those weird thing we just need to hand wave like Lester’s claim of Starfleet not letting women captain ships.

I’ll be surprised if they don’t get to Leila Kalomi. Then again, I was surprised they went straight to La’an, when the more logical step would have been to have Spock meet Leila when he’s trying to do more to suppress his emotions after Chapel.

They have two more seasons. They can get to Leila if they choose to. Not every preTOS data point needs to be addressed.

Hell, it took until Season 4 before we even knew what Jack Crusher looked like and Season 7 before we knew that Deanna even had a sibling. Even without touching on other series' continuity Trek shows frequently take inordinate amounts of time to expand upon their own character's backstory if they don't start doing so right out of the gate.

Also: Sybok. I mean. Spock has a religious fanatic, emotional brother who's a full Vulcan? The franchise didn't even bother to give us that nugget of backstory until 20 years after TOS was cancelled.

Even without touching on other series' continuity Trek shows frequently take inordinate amounts of time to expand upon their own character's backstory if they don't start doing so right out of the gate.

Also: Sybok. I mean. Spock has a religious fanatic, emotional brother who's a full Vulcan? The franchise didn't even bother to give us that nugget of backstory until 20 years after TOS was cancelled.

Yep. When you have a franchise that lasts almost 60 years and has about 1,000 episodes and films you're gonna have "WAIT, THEY NEVER SAID THAT IN THE EARLIER SHOW OR MOVIE" moments. Lots of them.

If one has sufficient faith of the cardiac organ, anything is canon.

I feel like those changes will always feel more accepted because they still involved the OG actors. We didn't know Spock had a brother until the movies but when we found out it was the brother interacting with Nimoy and not someone who has been recasted, yet is still suppose to be the same person that Nimoy was playing. One of the reasons I think Pike's change is so embraced is because for the most part we only knew PIke from "The Cage" and of course being in a wheelchair and not even being able to talk.

When you take characters who are already pretty well developed and then recast them and add extra layers to them they tend to feel like new versions of the old character instead of just the old character at a different point in his or her life. As much as I like Peck as Spock I do have a hard time in my mind seeing him morphing into Nimoy which is what we are suppose to assume will happen since they want to keep saying this is all in the same continuity.

If it was in another timeline it was just be easier to embrace that the Spock in that universe might have some things in common with prime Spock but he is also still a different person who is going to live a different life. Maybe this Spock will choose someday to embrace his human side even into the future. Maybe he becomes the Captain of the Enterprise after KIrk dies. Anything is possible.

I might enjoy a Tarantino helmed Trek, but everyone will say F & N a lot. Not a fan of either word and I don't use them.

I don't think he would use N in such a movie because even he I think understands Trek enough to know that such a word would feel out of place. I am not sure which F word you are talking about. One I don't think he would use for the same reason he wouldn't use the N word. But I do think he would use the word Fuck.

Nope. Not a chance in hell.

Once that happens any complaint about making Trek "too modern" will make me laugh with derision because Tarantino has a particular way and I don't think it suits Trek at all.

People complaining about swearing in Trek wouldn't have seen nothing yet compared to if Tarantino helms a Trek project.

We didn't Geordi had a mother who was also a Captain in Starfleet until TNG S7 either.
