SNW Season 5 In Development

This post makes no sense. If a story is well produced, why does it matter when it takes place? I'll take well produced "gap filler" over any dreck that takes place after PIcard or what ever th SW equivalent is timelinewise.

It matters to a lot of fans.

Speaking for myself, I think that prequels are an inferior storytelling method, especially for movies and television. And the vast majority of them, in my opinion, fail to live up to the thing they are a prequel to.

Strange priorities.
Not really. When one sees something they have loved since they were a kid being poorly treated it matters. For example. I was a HUGE fan of the Fast and Furious franchise. They were fun action films up to 6. They were over the top but not too over the top. After that the producers tried to outdo each previous film. We get Dom stomping his foot on broken pavement and taking down an entire parking structure, we get a Fiero in space, we get characters becoming self aware that they don't get hurt anymore and defying physics etc. I feel the longer something runs they just plain run out of ideas and start to do extremely silly things. Now I totally hate the franchise.

Now on the flip side a franchise that did the over the top stuff better. a smarter action series. maintained and improved its quality with each new installment. Mission Impossible. Maintained it's quality right to the end. 😎

I somewhat agree. Though some stuff has worked for me. Yes I was one of those who loved the Star Wars Prequels. 😂 A decent prequel I saw that I think was very very well done was Dexter Original Sin. Well casted and acted.

God, I gotta disagree. The last two MI movies were a step down from Fallout. Dead Reckoning was AWFUL. Final Reckoning was more mid than anything else.

I loved both of them. Only one thing irked me in final reckoning. But other than that one thing I totally loved it..was it the best Mi. Maybe not but it maintained the series quality and demos t devolve back to the quality of the second film.. 😂

But it really doesn't need to.

What I love about Star Trek still exists. It didn't stop functioning just because of a series I don't like. It's absurd thinking to say that because it's treated poorly now it it ceases to be good. That's nonsensical.

Trek is a buffet. It doesn't demand anything beyond entertainment.

I just think as a whole it's become something more silly and gimmicky now. I'm not saying I don't still like the Star Trek I originally liked or as a thing anymore. But current Trek just is not doing anything for me right now. I'm glad people like it. If it's your thing great. There are still some bright spots in there for me. But it's definitely not must watch tv for me anymore.

No TV is must watch for me.

Hadn't been in twenty years. It's a silly standard to me. I didn't watch shows because "I have to see it " I watch them for enjoyment and stop watching if I don't enjoy it.

If a restaurant I liked as a child stops being enjoyable as an adult I stop going.

I'd rather care about things personally. I want to be excited, be invested, get hyped about where it could be going. I don't watch TV just because I want something to do for an hour, I could stick a YouTube video on for that.

Sure, but that's not "must see " to me. It's not to kill an hour; what an absurd notion.

I'm excited about Trek but haven't watch the newest episodes yet. All in good time.

The topic was prequels. So. ….
The setting in a fictional timeline shouldn’t be a top priority. Tell a good story. Get good actors. All that is much more important than the year it takes place.

I do like prequels if done well. I just don't like the current Star Trek prequels all that much. I did enjoy Enterprise for the most part though.

Actors are more important than setting.
Story is more important than actors.
Eating food is more important than story.
Drinking water is more important than eating food.
Breathing air is more important than drinking water.

Wait, why am I wasting time eating food? I shouldn't have been caring about that at all!
