Some parts were a bit rushed but a good conclusion to last season.

I enjoyed the escape from the Gorn ship the most.

Fair. I have a pretty good memory for such things but my wife is always wanting to rewatch the previous season of a streaming show to make sure she’s up to speed.

I will probably watch it though. I was mostly joking. 😂 But I absolutely hate the fact that shows are just basically mini series now and it takes so long to get new episodes. At least one full year from the end of a season to a new season. On network tv we would wait from around April-June at the end of a season to Sept/October for a new one. So not nearly as long. Now it's 1-2 years in most cases even without a writer strike.

I liked the solution to the Batel issue.
Is it just me or did the putting the Gorn in hibernation feel a lot like the Borg in BOBW?

7/10. Fine but could have been better.

Watched this while I was pretty tired, so I'll definitely need to give it another viewing later today. I liked it, though it wasn't their best.

The whole thing felt somewhat rushed. I understand that need to kick the Gorn can down the road to Arena, but I still would have liked a little more actual communication and interaction with them. I suppose I was hoping to somewhat pull back from the Monster Gorn portrayal andshow them as something more than heartless creatures.

But those were my own preconceived notions. I won't fault the show for not doing what I expected.

That aside, I did enjoy the episode. The state of the landing part was both shocking and compelling. That they had been partly digested was something new to Trek, and pretty bold.

I also appreciated Pike's command style. Sometimes a captain doesn't have all the answers and needs to rely on his crew, and that's exactly what he did. He trusts his people and lets their talents shine. The various plans put into action throughout the episode were clever and well though out.

Another highlight for me was Martin Quinn's portrayal of a younger, less confident Scotty. I imagine will see him blossom into The Miracle Worker as the series continues, especially under Pelia's guidance.

Overall, a solid episode, despite a few sour notes for me. Still incredibly glad to have this series back. I've always felt it was not just the strongest of the streaming era Trek shows, but one that truly captures the spirit of The Original Series.

I will join the chorus. Good, but not great.

I liked the Spock/Chapel/Batel/Una resolution better. And escape from the Gorn ship. I thought we were gonna lose Ortegas or La'an there. And the Pelia/Scotty dynamic was good.

But it was a bit rushed and "sleep mode" was indeed a bit Borg, BOBW redundant. Though it explains why we don't see them again until TOS, if not why they are not recagnized when they are seen.
