Spin-Off starts shooting in Septrmber!

Imgur is being weird so I can only link the URL

Cast read-through today & shooting starts on Monday; so it's a shame we can't change the thread titles as it's out of date now.

It seems impossible to post photo's here directly anymore, so you'll have to go to Russell's Instagram to see a photo and try and guess who the (unannounced) blurry actors are. I'm 99% sure Ruth Madeley's one of them.
You can still post photos directly via Insert Images. As well as embedding Instagram posts.

Ruth Madeley (unsurprisingly) confirmed, along with Colin McFarlane who will (surprisingly) return as General Pierce from "Children of Earth".

Finally!

It is odd that they didn't announce Madely from the onset because she's such a fan favorite, but I guess they wanted to spread out the good news.

I agree McFarlane's return is a surprising one. I haven't watched "Children of Earth" since its release (despite being easily the best of Torchwood) so I don't fully recall his character. Perhaps a rewatch is in order...despite how dark the story is. Hopefully knowing what comes in advance will help (although certainly not for Capaldi's character...).

I'd guess it was more a case of "We need an American military character" and using one who already existed, rather than a specific desire to bring him back.

Realistically, he should be retired, as most current four-star flag officers in the US military held three star ranks in the mid to late 2010s. I guess they're either going to ignore that or show him holding some other American political office. Secretary of Defense, maybe?

Yeah. Reality rarely hits Who: my guess on Lethbridge Stewart becoming a Brigadier is that the UK UNIT was mandated to be brigade strength (size from population, or GDP), so the obvious candidate to run it got an early promotion.

Have they said yet if this will be coming to Disney+ in the US or somewhere else?

I still can't quite figure out what kind of show this is going to be

Star-crossed, sorry, sea-crossed lovers. It would have been more daring to keep her looking like a Sea Devil though. (You can see updated real Sea Devils briefly in the trailer.)

It's funny how much more expensive-looking than the main series it appears. They did extensive overseas shooting for it, and hell, even manged to go to London for real rather than just faking it in Cardiff.

I'm intrigued. I'm curious if they're going to address why she doesn't look like a regular Sea Devil. I'm assuming the real world reason is because they wanted her to look attractive, but I agree with @Rich Watson that it would been more interesting if she looked like a regular Sea Devil.
