Strange New Worlds renewed for a fourth season

What Disney does will not be indicative of what Paramount does. Different people. Different company.

I'm saying the possibility exists (Especially now that Paramount is in cost-cutting mode while preparing for a new CEO.)

SNW's insistence on bringing in TOS characters (Uhura, Scotty, Kirk, Spock, etc.) isn't helping matters. How long before SNW bumps up against TOS canon?

Even S4 is questionable (Now-former Disney CEO Bob Chapek renewed She-Hulk for S2. Current CEO Bob Iger came aboard and cancelled the renewal.)
She Hulk Season 2 was never officially announced.

Incoming Paramount CEO David Ellison may or may not allow the renewal to proceed.
I don't think there will be any change in the current Star Trek works. Of course, they can cancel all the current Star Trek works and make TV series that include Kevin's universe.

There's still several years in universe before TOS. Though they haven't said what year the series is in since Season 1, and with the stardates being completely random, we can't figure out via that way either.

Season 4 starts filming in February, or at the very least an episode with Kirk is filming in February. Paul Wesley said he's filming SNW in February.

He knows him well enough to call him "Chris". I think we can read a friendship into that.
I was referring more to this:

Mendez "You ever met Chris Pike?"
Kirk "When he was promoted to Fleet Captain."
Mendez "About your age. Big, handsome man, vital, active."
Kirk "I took over the Enterprise from him. Spock served with him for several years."

All factual, indeed. But just the facts and no more.

I'm not seriously complaining, just making fun of the insane wiggle room that SNW wedged itself into.

Edit: But I'm not joking when I express a desire to not see him on SNW any more. :)

But also this.
MENDEZ: Captain Pike. (a scarred head and shoulders sticking out of wheelchair device) Captain, you remember these gentlemen. They wanted to visit you. Two flashes mean no. I thought you might make an exception for them. (flash, flash) I'm sorry, gentlemen.
KIRK: Chris, if there's anything I can do for you. (flash, flash)
SPOCK: Captain Pike, may I remain for a moment? (flash, the others leave) You know why I've come, Captain. It's only six days away at maximum warp and I have it well-planned. (flash, flash) I have never disobeyed your orders before, Captain, but this time I must. (flash, flash) I know. I know it is treachery and it's mutiny. but I must do this. (flash, flash) I have no choice. (flash, flash)
and
KIRK: Screen off. Chris, was that really you on the screen? (flash) That's impossible. Mister Spock, no vessel makes record tapes in that detail, that perfect. What were we watching?
He's matter of fact when talking to Mendez, but much more personal when addressing Pike.

Get used to Kirk, I expect he'll pop up in at least two episodes per season.

Agreed. I wanted to see Pike without the shadow of Kirk hanging around. I wanted the show to be hus adventures. I would rather they had brought more of pikes crew from the cage like yoenan colt. They are fast tracking this show to morphing into the TOS crew pretty quickly. All we need now is sulu, chekov and mccoy. Another kirk guest episide we dont need.

Doesn't he also refer to Mendez by his first name?

I guess they figure they better hurry...the smart money is on the fact that we only have twenty more episodes left of SNW before it's over.

I'd say they're more likely to reach 5 seasons. The fact they're willing to invest so heavily in Starfleet Academy tells me that there's still a strong effort to produce Star Trek, and right now SNW is their Flagship Trek show. It's critically acclaimed and popular with the fanbase. More importantly, it gets decent ratings. I see no reason why they'd cut it off at the knees before it finished its run. Hell, of all the shows I could see going beyond 5 seasons, it's SNW.

Okay, thirty more episodes.

(I agree that five seasons seems hopefully likely, but let's all look past how I forgot we were only on season two so far and not three. :D)

It's kind of sad to think that we've probably only got slightly more than the amount of one season of TNG/DS9/VOY left.

SFA is cheaper to produce than SNW.

yes but if SNW is cancelled, and this star trek comedy tv series gets the green light. there will be 2 star trek shows already ongoing. so if they approve the production of the star trek comedy show, production can start after the possible 5th and final season of SNW.

Five seasons is not a given.

Disco was pushing it (the producers were preparing for season SIX when it was cancelled).

I know this but I don't see it as a cancellation. Because a real cancellation doesn't happen like that. In a real cancellation, they don't air the 5th season that was filmed. Even if they aired it, they wouldn't bother to make it suitable for the finale. Or they cancel it after it aired. I don't think Paramount sees it as a cancellation either. They just watch the episodes and look at the scripts for the next season. They say that's enough and reshoot the last episode or make it suitable for the finale with additional scenes. I think Paramount has a 5-season argument for Star Trek. My guess is that they will either approve the 5th and final season and close it. Or they will cancel the 4th season and wrap up the story with 2 TV movies or 1 3-hour TV movie.
