2. Jet becoming worse and more Boimler like while Boimler becoming more Riker-like is a cool arc even if it kind of throws Jet under the bus. Then again, Jet is the kind of guy who probably would do fine in astrometrics or retiring to a science base. I love the Redshirts homage at least. It inspired one of my book series (Space Academy)
In all fairness to Jet, he just lost his hands.
Given that he'll be grown a new set, that still kind of sucks.

But I don't blame him given the dangerous stuff that Ransom forced him into.

I notice that Boimler has been slowly growing a beard, perhaps to look more like his alternate from Episode 1? It was visible in Episode 2, and is further progressed in this episode.
I'm pretty sure that the "season-long gag" McMahan said they had to wipe from the trailers is Boimler's beard attempt. Some shots from episodes 2 and 3 were in there and Boim's facial foliage is nowhere to be seen.

Really enjoyed this one. First thought Mariner wasn't in the right universe after all, but liked they made it a Jennifer headfuck.

Bradward's gonna have a full beard by the end of the season!

It was trying to communicate!

"the lava was trying to communicate!?"
I don't care if it was trying to shake my hand or give me a hug, I'm not touching freaking lava.

People + Lava = Bad News for People.

Just look at Anakin SkyWalker when he was left alone near a lava bank, he got burned so badly he became Darth Vader.

Yes, there was the fall to the Dark Side, but the severe burns didn't help.

So that’s a Galamite eh…well nobody ever said Jadzia wasn’t adventurous.

Wasn’t a fan of the Jennifer/Mariner stuff. But the Boimler plot line was great, so was T’Lyn and Krog. Loved the bit with Boimler going over the cliff. The distant scream had me rolling.

Love the Enterprise call back with the Kreetassans.

Very curious to see where they are going with the multi-verse stuff.

3. What do you have to do to be demoted as an Admiral in Starfleet? Visit the Genesis planet? The guy needed to be cashiered.
Given how many Evil Admirals Starfleet has, they probably figure one who's only real crime is going AWOL is worth keeping. After all, he's not plotting a coup, in league with an enemy power, conspiring to derail peace initiatives or any of the other activities we know other Admirals get mixed up in.

Kind of reminds me of the novels where they say the only reason Admiral Leyton's coup attempt got as far as it did was Section 31 was too busy dealing with other Admirals who were deemed a higher priority threat to the Federation.

This felt more like a 9 this week, beating both of last week's episodes.

I love love love love the title. :guffaw:

Who knew that T'Lynn has a peculiar taste in music? ;)

I laughed at Boimler lathering himself up in lotion to save the day. :D

I enjoyed the VOY callout with the Intrepid class starship having a month of hell. :techman:

Very similar to my tastes and thoughts.

I also had the thought about the dangerous mountain being Paramount expressed previously.

Best of the year so far. I also appreciated circling back to Jennifer and the 20 sided die thing (has to be Dungeons and Dragons, right?).
