That sounds like a fun build! Can't wait to see it.Building physical models is something I loved to do as a kid and teenager.
I recently decided that I needed a “fun” project that had no-one to answer to, and no practical purpose whatsoever. So I went down to the hobby shop and bought a USS Kelvin model.
And then I thought how much more fun it would be to build the model as if it were from the Forbidden Planet era. Nice and smooth. United Planets Cruiser C-517 coming soon…

If you didn't know there was a wire, would you notice it?

Yeah, I'm still holding out hope for a larger scale SNW Enterprise. Something like 1/537 would make it comparable to the big 1/350 kits.I would love a 1:537 Excelsior. But I doubt Round 2/Polar Lights or whoever currently has the license for Star Trek model kits will ever release one. It seems to be either 1:350 or 1:1000 these days.
I'm going to go against what the others are saying. Yes, I'd notice *something* was amiss there, only because my eyes are now drawn to the asymmetry of it all. If you added the same detail to the other side, then I'd answer no, I wouldn't notice the wire.Question/ Opinions

Thanks for the honesty. I'll still probably leave it as is. The kit is so small that I don't think anyone would notice once it's linked up with the rest of the ship.I'm going to go against what the others are saying. Don't tempt me. I've thought about doing a whole fleet of slightly different NX Class ships. But once I finish this 1/1000 scale, and then finish my 1/350 scale, I think I might take a break from Starfleet ships for a bit. I enjoyed the different colour pallet of DS9 and I've got a 1/350 Bird of Prey kit in my backlog. Might be time for some dirty green.I think you nailed the color. Once you’ve finished this one, you should do the NX-02 with the “cooler” color tones and squared-off deflector and glue their keels together.![]()
