I personally don't think it's too weird to say that aliens from a completely different planet might act different to humans for biological reasons as well as cultural reasons. It might be a bit weird if you're considering alien races to be a sci-fi version of different human groups, but not everything has to represent our own situation perfectly. Sometimes a Vulcan is just a Vulcan.

That said, it's been shown about a million times at this point that Vulcans aren't born emotionless and it's something that they have to learn.

I will always assume Spock's World / The Romulan Way is "how it happened". But have we ever heard any of that on screen?

Only from Surak's POV. History is written by the victors, after all.

"Forge" had some of that stuff to it but, again, from Surak's POV. He could have been a right-tyrannical bastard, demanding those who "marched beneath the raptor's wings" either get with the program, leave the planet or face execution. Most seem to have picked "option 2".

We'll never know.

I think there is a line about "Those who march beneath raptor's wings" in ENT. Implying that the prot-Romulans were a faction in the Vulcan Civil War.

I went to the Star Trek convention in Las Vegas and on the Sunday they had the entire cast on the same stage during the two part panel session. It was lovely to see, and it was so nice to see Carol Kane there.
