Maybe Brent Spiner will show up as Data or Patrick Stewart will appear as Picard (yeah, I know they say they made it where he'll have a "natural" life-span in his synthetic body, but just like with Data's decision to end his life, things can change). Although, it might reek of being similar to Enterprise's finale, where characters from other shows play significant roles in Discovery's finale. So I would understand why they might want to avoid that.

I don't think it's Discovery's place to reveal what ultimately happened to Picard. That should be left to something that's either Picard or TNG-Related, like the Picard Movie or Legacy.

Rayner got suspended because he had perhaps given the bad guys an idea???

I know they had to find a reason to remove him from the captaincy, but am I the only one who finds it a bit ridiculous?

No, I thought it was ridiculous too.
They should have done the Pike route: The Antares is badly damaged, and they assign Raynor to Discovery because of his history with Moll and L'ak. It wouldn't diminish Raynor, but it also makes sense that he'd be number one to Burnham because Discovery is her ship.

Also because, taken to its extreme consequences, this motivation would be paroxysmal. "I'm sorry Captain, we have to suspend you. Do you remember that brilliant tactic of yours that you once used? We heard that some bad guys also used it. You understand that we can't let something like this go by. Your faults are obvious."

I really like Rayner. For some reason he reminds me of Trip and T’Pol’s son Lorien from the Enterprise episode E2. Whatever species he is looks Vulcan even if the ear shape is different.

I also like the union of Saru and T’Rina and hope there is an onscreen Vulcan wedding later in the season.

Grudge continues to be my favorite. I have some interest in the backstory of Moll/Malinne and her relationship with her partner L’ak and with Book. She’s a daughter of the last Cleveland Booker whom something significant happened to when she was seven years and three months old. She gives me a Dickensian vibe, an orphan who probably grew up fighting for scraps on some planetary backwater after her dad was killed.

If they go to Trill next, it would not break my heart if they leave Adira there for the rest of the season.

I like Adira and wouldn't like that but Gray is boring so I hope he doesn't stay around for more episodes. Of course as suspected one should always keep a eye out for a Dax sighting.

I'm really curious if there's ANYONE who actually likes Gray. Genuinely.
I haven't seen anyone indicate that, but if you're out there, I'd love to hear it.

I really like Gray as well. His story of becoming his true self was beautiful to witness and he has an interesting vulnerability about him. Found the performance very capable and thought it was a shame they basically wrote him out of the show.

Well, to each their own. I'm glad you like him, really, I am. I didn't get anything near like that myself, though. The most growth I saw was him deciding he didn't like his mole, and then then going to Trill. I felt like there was so little time spent with him we barely got a journey. They gave him a body and, zip, out he goes.
Honestly, I think it would have been a more interesting story to have him remain a part of Adira. Not as some weird force ghost thing, but more like a traditional Trill.

Honestly, I can totally get that perspective. I agree they did way too little with the character. My memory is fuzzy, but there was this story where he talked to Zora a lot, which I thought was cool to have a character who because of their own history goes out of their way to empower someone else to be recognized. But yes, ultimately it seemed like they had no idea what to do with Gray beyond the initial concept.

I'm not sure it was clearly states. But it was poor decision-making to fire at the mountain when there was a 30% chance of the landslide. That's an unacceptably large risk for putting an entire village at risk. It didn't happen but the fact that he was willing to take the risk raises huge questions about his decision making. That by itself warrants a suspension.

The only scene where I didn’t mind Gray was the conversation with Zora in the episode where her sentience was explored, mainly because I find Zora an interesting character. . For the most part I either fast forward or zone out when both Gray and Adira ate on.
