Usually rolling the eyes is not considered a positive.
But it's not really a damning criticism either. Especially when I said that I've enjoyed the first two episodes overall. I don't know about you, but I can roll my eyes at specific aspects of things that I like overall.

But, suppose I didn't enjoy the episodes, so what? We don't all have to like it.

Not usually my approach. If I'm rolling my eyes the episode goes off.

I would love to hear the reasons why is all. I am curious for all kinds of different perspectives, desiring to learn from other people, gain wisdom from the knowledge.

For me, rolling my eyes type of criticisms aren't major things. So not worth shutting the show off by themselves.

Agreed. And on the other side of the coin, I also like reading why someone likes something that I don't because it gives me a window into whatever positives they're seeing. I might not end up agreeing but it can be eye opening.

But for the first two episodes, I mostly thought they were fun. A few minor nitpicks but that's all.

So, for something completely different:
Am I the only person wishing Raynor had THIS hair style:
1000

I knew Rayner would end up being the new “number one” as soon as he started teaching Tilly and Adira.

I do wonder why, in a race like this they didn’t jump right to Trill instead of going back home. Saru could have taken a shuttle back home.

Very strong Arsenal of Freedom vibes from the graveyard chase. Action Saru…lol. He runs like Forest Gump.

Just like the premiere, I’ll go with an 8/10.

Before I´ll post something more coherent... I registered that Breen were mentioned as major power in both episodes. It is a longshot but they might be built as a regular antagonists for Starfleet Academy.

I'm wondering with the Progenitors. Do you think the 'seeding of life' goes beyond just specifically bipedal DNA (or the building blocks for it) and that they actually designed these worlds because the 'goldilocks zones' they were in fit what they knew as their own prerequisites for life?

So the reason so many 'alien' worlds look similar is because prior to evolution or emergence of off-shoots the flora/fauna and other basic 'living' features of the worlds may have also originated from the same place?

I wonder if the Progenitors turn out to be the Q or one of the other super evolved aliens we have seen before. The idea that went from looking liking Female Changeling to something more evolved. I know they would never do it but it would be kind of cool if Sisko provided a clue, using his knowledge from living with the Prophets.

I actually wondered about another direction they might go with connecting all of this, since they introduced a Soong-Type android in the initial episodes.

Maybe Brent Spiner will show up as Data or Patrick Stewart will appear as Picard (yeah, I know they say they made it where he'll have a "natural" life-span in his synthetic body, but just like with Data's decision to end his life, things can change). Although, it might reek of being similar to Enterprise's finale, where characters from other shows play significant roles in Discovery's finale. So I would understand why they might want to avoid that.

Also, they claim this "Red Directive" has been classified for centuries. That would imply the Federation actively hid the information about the Progenitors and the origin of humanoids. That just seems off to me.

I just don't see the same Picard who lectures Wesley about personal truth and scientific truth being central to wearing a Starfleet uniform going along with a coverup of a huge scientific discovery. This is not Sisko having to hide his complicity in murdering a Romulan senator for the sake of billions of lives in the Dominion War.

And if the Federation covered up this, what other aspects of science that we've seen in episodes are a state secret?

I imagine if they went that route it would once again bring in Section 31. While I doubt Section 31 still exists in the 29th century their is usually always some version of what they do in any government. This group would just have a different name.

All of that would seriously jeopardize the links to TNG and any sense of believability. I'm liking where it's at right now. Let's go with it.

Well, it wasn't blank when I posted it. (Grumble grumble)
Yeah you can't embed images from Fandom/Wikia pages. Gotta reupload them somewhere else.

They had a bit of free time because L'ak and Moll were going the wrong direction.
