A good question. Seems the double standard is alive and well.
Could have been good.I suppose but at the end of the season you didn't have a long story arc whee Picard's old teacher,Riker's old Captain and Beverly's cousin ended up playing important roles in resolving the season arc.
Cut out the boring. I'm all for it.I suppose they do meet 99 strangers until they meet 1 relative, and with only so few episodes a season, we don't see all those other, less meaningful meetings![]()
Not sure what this is saying.I'm curious what double standard that is.
If they had Admiral Vance threaten to speak Burnham, I'd critique that too. Doesn't matter that Kirk did it in TOS.
Riiiiight. It just logically had to be two home worlds for main characters and the daughter of his mentor. Not surprising since it's the connection between humanoid species that is the big topic here.
Was it small universe syndrome that humans, Klingons, Romulans, and Cardassians were all searching for the same clues and then met all together in The Chase? Nope, it was part of the story.
Exactly so.I suppose but at the end of the season you didn't have a long story arc whee Picard's old teacher,Riker's old Captain and Beverly's cousin ended up playing important roles in resolving the season arc.
Hardly massive. It's rather ordinary. In fact it pales in comparison to something like TWOK. Which piles a whole series of small universe connections. But personal connections help drive stories and characters. And on the whole most people can relate to them. I know pointing out these things make us seem so much more clever than the writers, but do they really?Nope. I suppose you're trying to be funny. But it's not working.
Yeah, small universe syndrome is a thing in Trek and elsewhere but this was a massive dose. Not just knowing Moll but also Betazed then Trill.
It's the same thing whether in a ten part story or a one part story.I suppose but at the end of the season you didn't have a long story arc whee Picard's old teacher,Riker's old Captain and Beverly's cousin ended up playing important roles in resolving the season arc.
I'm afraid I have to repeat myself. Is this your first time watching Star Trek? But it's alright in and of itself I suppose. I just hope we don't get mired down in the personal melodrama.
While I agree with you, I think different shows get different levels of grace. It's not all equal.I'm afraid I have to repeat myself. Is this your first time watching Star Trek?
I'm not sure why you think you're more clever than Trek writers?Hardly massive. It's rather ordinary. In fact it pales in comparison to something like TWOK. This was the first time I actually enjoyed Jeff Russo's episodic scores! I almost wonder if he got a bit of a kick from the producers after he wasn't asked to return for PIC S3 and the (actually warranted) warm reaction to Barton & Weidmann's work to get him to do something that wasn't just sonic wallpaper. The music this season is still Jeff Russo
but it feels different. Some of the tracks have felt very TOS movie style
Did my previous answer to that question go over your head? I tried to make it simple.I'm afraid I have to repeat myself. Is this your first time watching Star Trek?
So long as they are applied equally. That doesn't mean there won't be little nits here a
You know I do!So long as they are applied equally.
I don't, actually since I don't think you and I have discussed problems in other series other than modern Trek. You know I do!
Uh? Was that your take away?I'm not sure why you think you're more clever than Trek writers?
That seems a bit rude and unwarrented.Did my previous answer to that question go over your head? I tried to make it simple.
I'm replying in kind. Glad you caught on.Uh? Was that your take away?
That seems a bit rude and unwarrented.
Ok, well I thought you knew! But all cool. Yeah, we've discussed a lot and, usually, respectfully. So cheers!I don't, actually since I don't think you and I have discussed problems in other series other than modern Trek.
But, good to know![]()
Usually rolling the eyes is not considered a positive.I posted an honest review where I mostly enjoyed the first two episodes, but I point out how I had to roll my eyes at the small universe syndrome overdose in the 2nd episode. And you seem rudely fixated on that for some reason.
