Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

I won't lie. I'm not a fan of the Enterprise-G except for the fact she's the first Big E to be shorter in length than her predecessor and immediate forebear. From the NX-01 to the Enterprise-F they almost always got both longer and larger in mass.

I do object to Matalas proposing that it should be the “Next Next Generation” setting. In my view, a true “next” TNG would ideally be a completely new crew set even further in the future, with little to no ties with any legacy characters… which is essentially what TNG was in 1987*. His proposal with Seven as the captain is more akin to a Captain Sulu series. It’s probably what some fans would want, but I’d prefer a show with as little baggage as possible.

...Today the nominations for the 51st-anniversary edition of the Saturn Awards were announced, and Star Trek Universe shows brought in a total of 14 nominations across 3 different series: Picard (season 3), Strange New Worlds (season 2), and Lower Decks (season 4). One of the home media releases was also nominated, bringing the total to 15 nominations, a franchise record for the Saturn Awards. Picard picked up the most nominations in television categories with a total of 7, beating out Strange New Worlds with 6 and the Star Wars series Andor with 5...

Not only are these well deserved, but I’m kinda laughing at the fact that PICARD got snubbed. Just to be clear, I liked S3 fine, but man did a certain subset of fandom overhype that one.

Star Trek: Picard’ Season 3 Scores Otherworldly Number of Saturn Award Nominations
'Star Trek: Picard's third and final season is widely regarded as one of the best in the franchise.
:nyah:

That’s why the Critics Choice nom raised my eyebrow. As far as I can see, nothing from Trek has ever been nominated in the “Best Drama” category, at least for that organization.

I’m not expecting the Emmys to nominate SNW S2 next year, but that would make only the third show after TOS and TNG to get such a prestigious nom.

And they're back in business!
