Fargo, Season 5. Bout darn time

Agreed! Off to a very good start.

Juno Temple is perfect as the runaway wife and Jon Hamm's psycho sheriff --holy hell.

I can't wait to see more!

Only just got a chance to watch the first two episodes and loved every minute. Juno Temple is the obvious highlight, going from wholesome but kooky housewife to runaway woman who doesn't bat an eye in defending herself at all costs, Rambo/MacGyver-style...while still kooky. I get her story and I love it, but there's definitely something off about her. I can't wait to dig more into her character.

I love how Jennifer Jason Leigh's and Jon Hamm's characters are two sides of the same coin, both quietly raging about traditional values and truths, but achieving and thriving by very different means. I, too, look forward to their inevitable meeting. It will be glorious.

On top of all of that, I love everything Dave Foley is doing as the eyepatch lawyer. He's smart and weird but also completely kowtowed to Leigh's character. Even if that's all to his character this season, I'll be thrilled.

Lastly, if Joe Keery doesn't get to wield the zombie killer, even for a moment, this season messed up.

I wonder if Jennifer Jason Leigh's and Jon Hamm's characters are the same sides of the same coin. I'm sure the head of a debt collection company knows those who could twist some arms to collect, and can call on them to take care of an out-of-state corrupt preacher / sheriff, especially if the sheriff and his sons go after Lorraine's son Wayne.

I'm loving it so far too. Juno Temple is really becoming quite the star. That said, there was a scene between her and her husband where their accents sounded full-on Irish rather than Minnesotan.

Seen the first three episodes now and really enjoying this. I did like S4 but this feels like a real return to form. In lesser hands the use of the 'ordinary wife/husband is secretly a bad ass' trope would have been trite but Hawley and Temple make it work.

Three episodes in and already I'm hoping Olmstead gets to arrest Lorraine one day and that Farr gets to kick Gator's arse! (much as I love Keery)

And I know the show has skirted around the edges of the supernatural/UFOs, but are they really suggesting that

Woof. Roy doesn't bat an eye when it comes to murder and corruption. It's amazing how quickly he figured out how to resolve two separate headaches with one perfect solution in mere seconds after committing murder in not-so-classic Western draw. And who better to play that off than Jon Hamm?

Speaking of not-so-classic Western tropes, I loved how the episode ended with Roy riding off into the sunset to contemplate his future dealings and problems, leaving behind a trailer home and not some idle town.

Meanwhile, just how dumb is Wayne? Instead of listening to his wife in a moment of panic during the home invasion, he didn't go down the laundry shoot as directed and got himself electrocuted. Don't get me wrong, plenty of blame goes on Dorothy/Nadine, too, but if he had just listened...

And it's amazing how quickly Dorothy's wheels got going and figured how to gaslight both her daughter and her husband after watching her safety go up in flames, literally. As horrible as Lorraine is, she smells bullshit mountain a mile away and ain't afraid to speak her mind on the manner.

It's the only explanation I can come up with. Otherwise, that whole sequence makes utterly no sense.

Munch... I dunno what to think. He's definitely not one's usual thug. I suppose they might've been trying to say he's the descendant of the guy who looked like him in the flashback, but... yeah, I'm not sure.

Based on the preview for next week, I'm looking forward to seeing which side Lorraine comes down on. On one hand, she's a strong woman who takes no shit and I can't see her agreeing to help Roy, but on the other, she doesn't seem particularly fond (or trusting) of Dot. She does love her granddaughter though, so any threat to Scotty is sure to get her ire up.

I'm pretty sure. Scotty seems only a bit older than Roy's girls, so it seems to line up.

Wonder what happened to wife #1 (who I assume was Gator's mother)?

I knew the first face-off between Lorraine and Roy would be glorious and I'm not at all surprised she drew the first blood. Of course, Roy will inevitably strike back with the fury of a man who believes he is owed everything simply because he's a (white, rich, "god-fearing") man. Roy truly is a piece of work but he's also intelligent and ruthless enough do some serious damage to even Lorraine, a woman who casually cuts the balls of self-confident bankers with mere sentences over pricy lunch. Truly, I love how ridiculous this show is.

And that's before we get to the tiger that's Dot (and Juno Temple!). Holy shirtballs, y'all, that was some silk maneuvering she did all over the hospital, outsmarting both Wayne's men and the FBI agents, straight through Lorraine's property to retrieve Scotty, and right into the home of her new and sole ally, Indira (but not her obtuse husband). And I loved her one particular "oh!" at one point (I think when talking to Wayne) that sounded just like Shelley Duvall's Olive Oyl! This show. I love it so much.

I'll flit back to disliking Lorraine again soon enough, but for now I love her!

But not as much as I adore Dorothy. Juno Temple is just brilliant.

So guessing Dotty was the FBI's informant?

The only thing that's bothering me is that we're only halfway through, I hope the last five episodes can live up to what we've seen so far, guessing there's going to be some major twists a coming

I was glad to see that Lorraine looked at the file. She needed to understand what Nadine/Dot has been through. She looked decidedly pissed too. This will not go well for Roy.

And Gator is a damn idiot. I can't believe he threatened the Sin Eater!

Even my husband wanted to throw Olmstead's husband out after his "I want a wife" speech. What an ass - he wants a Mommy!

I loved Indira's confrontation of Lorraine, pushing back on all of her close-minded, arrogant bullshit. At least Lorraine looked at the file, but I'm still skeptical if she'll actually change her mind about Dot.

And I really, really don't want Indira to take that job.

Not even that. He wants a slave. Indira needs to drop his ass ASAP.

I don't love him in comedic roles but, damn, Hamm is really, really, good at playing outright villains. He should do it more often.
