Am I the only got Into Darkness vibes during this episode?
Kirk and Khan are doing their little star trek through the Enterprise debris to get to the Vengeance with Spock's little jaunt to the Cayuga?
Cauyga crashing into the gorn jamming thing/Vengeance crashing into San Francisco.

Still holding out hope that if the strike gets sorted out and filming can start with like 2-3 months of delay, we might get S3 in 2024.

10 (and I don't give those lightly) :bolian:

Well with no Picard or Disco to work on, maybe the teams might be able to pick up some time on that delay, assuming s31 doesn't get in the way. Makes me nostalgic for the old days when a season end was still to be filmed even after that season's broadcast had started.

Don't forget Starfleet Academy

The music at the very beginning, during the establishing shot of the sun, planet and ship felt very Voyager-like

When Pike calls for Chief Jay over comms, that did not sound like Jay. Though I’ll have to go back to their first appearance to be sure.

It was decent, but unsurprising. This just didn't click as a strong finale, it felt perfunctory in many ways - each story beat wasn't surprising (and once a man in red appeared, of course it would be Scotty).

In terms of a lead character encountering a moment of self-doubt, for some reason I was reminded of Kobol's Last Gleaming and Lay Down Your Burdens (and how good, with the exception of The Eye of Jupiter, BSG was at cliffhangers and season ends, and the characterisation to justify those moments). I just wanted the sense of surprise of those finales, rather than something which felt workmanlike. Maybe S3's start will really give us something radical, however, and improve on the Gorn :)

An ok end to a fantastic season, however.

This morning I couldn't even get to the Paramount logo in the Fire TV app--it kept crashing. I watched it on my laptop. If I knew for certain the new streaming episodes would eventually come out on Blu-ray, I would cancel my Paramount + subscription.

Hard to see, considering how dark it was on planet, but I think the anti-gorn phaser pistol was the Section 31 phaser from DSC Season 2.

The Gorn EV suit was also really cool looking.

I could see much better than anything S3 of Picard did. ;).

I'm giving this a 7. It didn't fully click with me, I'm not feeling the Gorn threat and I don't know when I'm getting a resolution.

That was good! A satisfying end of a mixed season. The courtroom and the crossover are still just a little better, but this one had great moments, working tension, and good solutions to problems. And this Scotty may fit even better than Pegg did. The adult Gorn looked very similar to the 2013 Kelvin game ones.
