It’s a very nice all round Trek episode. Mysterious artifact, new aliens, nice space scenes, some pew pew, etc.
For what it's worth I both owned and loved the Atari 2600 E.T. game. You know, where squiggly brown lines were an advanced alien and he carried around a flower pot. Which was squiggly lines of a different color.

Going off memory of the half-handful of DISC episodes I watched, this looks like a simplified version of their uniforms, minus the arrowheads running down the sides.
A mix of DISC and an update of the TOS uniform?
Mostly the TOS dress uniforms.

Sorry, this speech, as well as the remarkable story building, weaving in to the Halo universe from a comedy short form series is incredible:
