That was D.C. Fontana. Jeri Taylor was still years away from being involved with Star Trek when they were conceiving TNG.Roddenberry had an idea to make troi have three breasts. I think Jeri Taylor had to say, please don't.
Hey, some of us are still around. We're not all dead yet.
Seriously, though. This is an old, old story -- and not just for Trek. Trust me, there are old-school PLANET OF THE APES fans who insist that it isn't "real'' POTA unless the actors are wearing the original John Chambers makeups ("No CGI chimps!"), GODZILLA fans who insist that only "real" GODZILLA movies feature a guy in a rubber suit, that Lynda Carter is the only "true" Wonder Woman, etc. I've heard it all before.
None of this stuff is set in stone, but every generation insists that the version they grew up on is the one, true version -- and how dare they update it to appeal to today's audiences?
I still remember the irate Trekkie who lamented of the latest Trek shows. "They're making these shows for millennials!"
Well, of course. Who do we think the prime demographic is these days? Who is the future of the fandom?
Folks, I have some bad news. I just thoroughly double checked DSC, SNW, and PICARD, and sadly, NONE of them proved to be artillery able to hurl explosive shells over considerable distances. Likewise, none of them were Quinn Martin television productions starring William Conrad as a private detective.
Therefore, I am sad to report, the OP is right. None of these shows are Cannon.
If you can get past all the ridiculous vitriol, James Dixon does make some valid points. Unfortunately he makes them in the most asinine way possible to the point where you can’t take him seriously.
Why not the colour palate of TOS? WHY DIDN'T TNG USE THE TOS COLOURS??? What fake "Star Trek"If they want to update it to modern standards. Fine. Use 4k wide-screen and new camera angles and director techniques (although keep it at a low), but if you're making trek, I want high to use the same color pallete as tng/ds9 etc make it episodic, use the same form of speech for the characters just like tng, make a story about ethics, morality, human enlightenment of the 24th century, etc..not 10 stories that are about ONE villain, especially since if the villain and story is bad, youre basically GUARANTEED 10 CHIT EPISODES

Good God, no.
Make some of them episodic. Make some of them serialized. Make some of them semi-serialized/semi-episodic. Give us a wide variety of storytelling styles instead of just trying to re-create TNG for all eternity.
Jesus Christ, don't do that. TNG's over-use of prescriptivist English is one of the worst things about it. Incredibly dishonest depiction of human behavior and actively classist to boot.
They do that all the time in DIS and PIC, and people ignore it.
Switch to decaf. They don't say "this is the power of math", or "I like science". Like wow I want to punch the wannabe douchebag frat boy who wrote that, and I can tell he was a wannabe DB frat boy simply from that single line. It's not just the line itself. It's how it's said, who says it, and the context and situation, that just sounds so DISGUSTING.
They speak to each other with respect, kindness, and are genuine. They don't say "this is the power of math", or "I like science". Like wow I want to punch the wannabe douchebag frat boy who wrote that, and I can tell he was a wannabe DB frat boy simply from that single line.
