Enterprise definitely has its moments. Some stuff I liked a lot.
This. Whether you're watching in 1966 or 2023, you know what a Vulcan is, you recognize the Enterprise, the terminology is still similar enough that you know what happens when the heroes cross the Neutral Zone. Star Trek is consistently inconsistent, usually in the better ways.We wouldn't get prequel series if the franchise had to stay rigid. Whatever one thinks of the aesthetic choices made by ENT, DSC Seasons 1 and 2 and SNW being far too rigid in adhering to the style and vision of TOS would have made all three series impossible. And let's be honest here, Trek is more visually and internally consistent than almost any other space franchise and has managed to keep about 98% of the story and aesthetic consistent or at least recognizable for more than 56 years.
My favorite thing about the criticisms of Tilly is that people simultaneously complain about her being too immature and too mature at the same time. Whenever she gets giddy and energetic or just socially awkward, she's far too immature to be a Starfleet officer and should be sent to therapy and pumped full of Ritalin until she grows up and learns to be normal. But whenever she shows an ounce of competence in the fields she's already established to be fairly experienced in, she's suddenly an unrealistic character because cadets/junior officers are supposed to be literal schoolkids without any experience or knowledge who should be supervised by their teachers/superiors and never allowed to touch anything critical. Often it's the same people complaining about both.I've noticed "Thats the power of math, people!" as Parrots frequent harping point as well as Burnhams decision to mutiny in Vulcan Hello.
Yes, Tilly can be annoying. She's supposed to be naive, a little socially awkward and not the "I"m already super mature at 18" type Starfleet cadet. She's not a wunderkid like Wesley was. Hammering on what Tilly says or does takes away from what *other characters* do in Discovery. Stamets is a classic example of a scientist who feels very strongly about his work and is uncomfortable with the idea of it being weaponized...sound familiar?
I adore Tilly. She reminds me of me when I was much younger, which is funny because I don't like me.My favorite thing about the criticisms of Tilly is that people simultaneously complain about her being too immature and too mature at the same time. I was actually agreeing with you. Sorry if it didn't quite come across. Please note I wasn't condemning the character, every character can be annoying. I was just mentioning Tilly because she's the endless foil that gets hammered on over and over and over again by this poster

Both at the same time, so that no matter what the character does, I can rightfully be annoyed with them. Young people solely exist so that the wise and mature Starfleet officer main characters can school them when they inevitably screw up.I thought young people had to be naïve, believe in the purity of Starfleet by saying things like "I'm Starfleet, we don't lie" before being sentenced to death for tripping over the flowers.
