Strange New Worlds Season 2 Trailer

They really need to stop all the cutesy ways of saying engage the warp drive and just establish a standard order. Say, like, engage the warp drive. lol

From this board I have learned that modern Trek shows must adhere to the following rules:

1. No fun
2. No nostalgia
3. Anything that violates headcanon is bad
4. Everything must be spelled out explicitly otherwise we will have to create headcanon
5. Your favorite starship design sucks

If Starfleet can go through uniform changes every couple of months and on different ships don’t really see any issue with different Klingon outfits.

Even the TOS Movie Era had different Klingon uniforms. Remember the soft, padded ones from TUC that we never saw again in live action? Yep. The Empire may not change uniforms as often as Starfleet but they were different in ENT and they had changed by TOS only to become something entirely different by TMP.

Look at authoritarian regimes in real life. The Soviets didn't keep the same uniform design for all seven decades of their national existence.

If you are enjoying it you are doing it wrong!

Probably TAS.

I mean, talking cat lady on the bridge, personal force field belts, no Chekov in the cast. TMP ramped up the inflexibility but as early as 1973 TAS was doing things I'm sure many of the hardcore fans from the live action NBC run didn't like.

Star Trek needs its version of Grumpy Cat.

I do like STSNW a lot. It's brought back the episodic format and has done that extremely well. What I am feeling is that as it gets closer to TOS they need to make one of two choices. Have it open to a replacement remake of TOS and weave it into current trek lore or make it a alternate reality. With the gorn, Singh and Kirk it's feeling less and less like it can fit into the TOS canon. So either make TOS no longer part of the canon except for the movies and just remake the original TV show to fit it in with everything else or make STSNW part of a separate STD alternate universe.

Do we really have to do this again?

Option 3: TOS is not literal history.

My preferred option.

Right around Enterprise I believe.
I wanted to love Enterprise so so much, but the theme song put me off immediately, and then I was terribly disappointed that we still had to have the sexy (but unemotional) woman sewn into a catsuit (who also, predictably goes into pon far and runs around in her underwear). And then the puerile semi-naked sweaty applications of decontamination goo scenes. Like they were trying too hard to appeal to one specific very narrow demographic on the assumption those were the only people who'd watch it. But I have seen a few of the recommended episodes. Which were pretty good Trek.

ENT was pretty great Trek when it wasn't lazily recycling a VOY or TNG episode but this time in a new century and setting or when they decided it was Sweeps Week time and that meant Jolene had to slip into her decon underwear and shirt for a "titillating encounter with a favorite male lead." Berman kept Trek alive for almost 20 years but damn, was he a horny and thick-headed bastard.
