Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I know they have emotions and personalities, but I don’t see that as being the same as having an abstract sense of self and being able to reason outside the context of their instinctual drives. To see their defenseless prey and have any other considerations than “I’m hungry”. That’s where I see the essence of sapience.
That's a fair point about sapience, but it when it comes to me going vegan, it basically boils down to me not wanting to cause any other thinking, feeling being unnecessary pain and suffering.

There are places here advertising for that kind of surgery and the ads almost saying it is like day surgery where you go home right away
It's typically outpatient just with a long recovery time. It might have gotten better though, since my dad had his replaced almost 15 years ago now. Wow...that's a long time.

Wanted to check the whereabouts of a package, so I looked up the tracking information on Canada Post's website.

The current status is listed as "Check delivery progress".

Um, yeah... I thought that was what I was *doing*?

OK putting that off my list because reading more about hip replacement well now it sounds horrible.
It may not be your hips. I was getting terrible pain but the doc says the joint is fine. My back is a mess, so that's most likely where the problem is.

BTW, anyone know where I can get my hands on a medieval rack?

A few years ago I read this story where a girl fell asleep with her smart phone and it exploded, killing her. The article even had a name, location and photos, but it was missing the most important part -- the brand of phone. No well-known sites were reporting about it, no talk of a lawsuit, no response from the phone manufacturer. It was clearly a made up story and one person even pointed it out in the comment section and got downvoted to hell by everyone else.

My Mom had her hip replaced in her '80s--four or five years ago. She had been hit by a car back in the early 1960's and it shattered her hip and left her with one leg almost two inches shorter than the other. But now with her advanced age and loss of height, her hip was really just coming apart. After her surgery, she was up and walking the same day, and went home the day after. She had PT two or three times a week for a month or two--mostly to try and build up her strength, since she was pretty frail due to her age and lack of activity. She told me she wished she'd had the surgery sooner because it made her life so much better.

I had an impossible burger and it was the best thing ever

Last summer I was on a plane and they fed us Impossible meatballs. They were DAMN good.

Of course I was so hungry at the time I would have eaten pretty much anything, including the inflight magazines.

My dad says the same thing. He's had TWO total hips, and he wished he'd done it long ago.

That doesn't sound like fun at all.
It wasn't, but neither was constant pain.

@Commander Troi, having what happened in mind would you do it again?
@Gingerbread Demon, methinks her answer to that is what really counts
I would, but if I could go back and do it over, I'd wait a bit longer and build my strength & lose more weight first to make recovery easier.

There are inversion tables that look like racks to me. :D

@Gingerbread Demon you could have a problem in your lower back. My husband has arthritis there and it gives him hip pain. He's gotten shots in his back that help for a year or so. (His pain is also exacerbated by his weight, so he's trying to lose some.)

Hey there @Commander Troi

I do have arthritis of the lower lumbar so yeah I think that contributes to the pain thing but it's odd in that it isn't constant, some days are really good, I am still thinking it might be something annoying the sciatic nerve.

Just found out yesterday that Rob Zombie and Sheri Moon Zombie are vegans. They even have a bunch of rescued farm animals at their home. Definitely would not have expected that from the kind of music and movies he makes.

I use one browser to surf, one to shop and one just to get Bing points. That browser for the Bing points just showed a suggested ad for a very specific pet product I was looking up on my shopping browser.
