Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 3x08 - "Surrender"

They literally say they have to leave and then show the cloaked ship flying off. Maybe it docked right next to where they were maybe as the alarm was already sounded they used transporters. Why that would need to be shown I have no idea.

They retrieved the data that the changelings had collected about the parts of Picard’s brain they had extracted. They say this in the episode.

So why is Troi talking to Jack at the end of the episode? Why still the mystery?

They snuck on board? Maybe, but never shown. Geordi said that they were coming back to the Titan after failing to find Riker a few episodes ago.

Do you not find it convenient that alarm goes off after some plot exposition? Again, why would they retreat at that point when Titan is under enemy control? Would the Worf or Riker from TNG do that? Come on.

I have to agree with the previous poster who suggests you haven’t seen the episode.

Worf appears when the bad guys are going about their normal business and when they are discovered an alarm goes off. This is enough for ANYONE to work out they snuck aboard. The other options are it’s a full on battle but no one has noticed or he hailed them and asked to come and rescue his mates.

If the alarm is going off and you are outnumbered you are going to retreat. They do retreat back to the shuttle.

They then have an exchange where they hail the Titan and comment that shields are up and comms are down they must have lost control. This is when they find out.

I don’t know how you can come to this conclusion.

• Picard grappling with the fact he’s a father and the lost time with Jack and Beverly.
• Riker shifting his outlook from being stuck in his grief to finding new hope, trying to make things right with Troi.
• This entire season has a theme of finding strength in the “family” of people we spend our lives with. That’s true for all of TNG crew, but it’s also touched on with Seven of Nine remembering Voyager, and even with the crew of Titan.

None of which has been earned. At all, particularly Picard, Crusher and Jack. Riker has been great, I'll give you that.

They Failed to get Riker at Daystrom, or more likely by plumbing whatever info as to his ‘arrest’ they could find. (Hence the Tuvok conversation)

When would you like the alarm to go off? The exposition took all of a few minutes.

They would retreat at that point, because they are not on the attack — there’s nothing they can do on the Shrike that can help the Titan, but it’s possible two Starfleet Ninja, and two Starfleet Officers, might help swing things back on the Titan. Especially as that’s where they need to go next, regardless. So… they are not retreating. They are in fact going to the front line to see what they can do there.

We haven't seen him for two episodes and he appears just to save the day. Of course he snuck aboard, that's bit the point. The point is: plot contrivances. The same way the alarm goes off. The same way they get off the ship after a bit of plot exposition. The same way they disappear until things are settled on the Titan. The same way the data Raffi extracted is never mentioned.

If only they’d explained this in the episode by having for example Riker say, “ We’re analysing the data that we pulled from the Shrike to see what it was they were extracting from your body.”

Also it would be explained if it had been brought up several times that the Changelings wanted parts of Picard’s body and Jack.

Oh wait both those things DID happen.

Also why are you questioning why a Councillor is talking to someone undergoing all of this stressful situation? Even without the mystery she’d still do that.

I have already answered all of these points so I’m not going to reply anymore.

I worry that you are confusing plot contrivance and plot.

You wish to see every single thing that’s happened and have no dramatic timing or excitement.

Nice episode. Of course, I knew they weren't going to kill off Data for a third time and that his surrender was a trick. Still, beautifully done and a big TNG movie fix for me. It always seemed so dull and trite that Data could gain emotions from something as tawdry as an 'emotion chip'. Him being an amalgamation of Lore and himself makes so much more sense and feels so much more satisfying for the character.







Sad to see Vadic go. Shaw is still on his Hansen trip but I have a feeling he will acknowledge Seven properly by the end.

Nice to see 'Spot', although I know it's not the original Spot. I think there were about three original Spot's anyway.







Is that the Denise Crosby appearance we were teased with over and done?







The idea that Data is incapable of using contractions doesn't even tally with the evidence presented in TNG. He did it before Datalore and he did it after so it seems a bit stupid to bring it up.







Nice to see the Worf/Troi relationship acknowledged, even if just as undertones.
