Changeling who perfectly mimics the properties of human and is totally different than the original changelings?
I was expecting a lot more than a passing reference where she doesn't even get mentioned by name or importance. I'm guessing by not doing this and changing the pose used, is this even credited as the same character as the original writer gets no royalties if it is vague enough and not mentioned by name.
But those changes are in the realm of how well she's able to mimic humans, there's no reason to think she couldn't mimic a spacefaring creature.
Is there any reason to think she could?

As far as I seen, Matalas said once that there was a “nod” to Tasha. And there it was, exactly as described: a nod. It’s just that some took it to mean much more and have spent weeks going around in circles talking about Sela, alt-Yar, another daughter and all sorts of wild theories, blowing it completely out of proportion.
I do think it was odd how defenceless the Shrike suddenly was. It was a huge ship, and TBF we don't get a sense of how many crew she has... but she seems to have what, 20? 30? goons with her on the Titan. It seems odd that she left it nearly entirely unmanned. That was a bit contrived.

Absolutely no world building going on whatsoever. Makes Worfs decision to visit Picards corpse all the more baffling considering the circumstances. Take control of the ship or, beyond that, destroy it.

Sorry. I meant they were only capable of destroying it here because of those things. Not that they should or shouldn’t have done it. Same as coming out the nebula they could have done because of the asteroid through.
In an open space, they’re both expecting it right the Titan is outmatched.

Oh, I sobbed with joy seeing Data and Geordi together again.
The moment when the new version of Data took control was poor comedy gold. I know his having emotions in Generations was a bit hit-and-miss, but this feels more like Data 2.0, and it was something else. "Shift change!"
I also laughed earlier in the episode at the Riker/Troi scene when she was talking about how realistic the changeling imposter was. "Good in bed, bad at pizza!"
Worf turning up to tell the Rikers how much he's changed had me grinning like an idiot too.
This episode felt more like a finale, with everything seeming resolved. Well, apart from the mystery of Jack's red door, though that's the next week's fun.
Vadic remained a badass villain until her dying moments.
Oh, I sobbed with joy seeing Data and Geordi together again.

OK serious question, I've seen a few people say this season made them cry. Do you actually mean tears streaming down your face, even one tear? Or is it just an expression?
Since my dad's death I have cried at Star Trek, at the end of The Visitor and when Picard is with fake Rene in Generations. But that was more because it reminded me of real life.
Tears for me at a couple of points.
The Riker and Troi scenes were the best in the episode as well as their rescue.
I cried a couple of times so far this year. I don't know if I'm becoming a sentimental old fool, or if I've eaten too many memberberries.
I was such a fan of Data and Georidi's friendship back on TNG, and Brent Spiner and LeVar Burton have smashed all of their scenes together out of the park so far this season.
I think the use of the First Contact theme this season also got me in the first episode, with the whole TNG reunion this season.

I never cry at things — at least, historically, and not since I was about 2 watching ET. I may have geared up at Tasha’s funeral, but I suspect I just didn’t blink enough and had hayfever, as in those days it happened that way — but in recent years, when things touch on specific things, particularly parenthood or the loss of parental figures, I am more likely to be ‘hit in the feels’. But I put this down to now being a father, and also having faced more loss in recent years. It is still fairly rare. The most recent thing to actually evoke a strong emotional response in this way was actually the Doc Martin Christmas Special.
Perhaps Trek needs more Martin Clunes. At the moment it doesn’t have any.
