Shatner never shied away from wanting to play kirk again, I seem to recall he was open to appearing in ST 09 but they just couldn't work out how to get him in it
Not exactly. His scene is in the final shooting script that was locked during production right before the writer's strike, so they were intending to shoehorn Shatner in pretty damn late in the proceedings.

Kirk's scene in the Abrams movie was included at the end of the script as "Alternate scene B" to be included "If time and casting permits." It was a contingency, never actually scheduled.

They're whetting our appetite for the S31 series that is supposedly still in development. It's like they're saying to us, "Imagine a series that would use all those crazy devices from various episodes." That's not to say that would be the entire point of the series but worked in with the characterization, etc. I don't know. Maybe.
Putting Shatner in it is about the only way they could get me to watch that S31 show.

People who have seen the entire season have said it's just an Easter egg, so I don't know what everyone is so worried about.

I really want Matalas to put this Kirk stuff to rest. But that he hasn’t (that I’m aware of) makes me a little nervous.
You know better than this. He's not showing up. It was an Easter Egg.

If William Shatner was really in PIC Season 3, someone would've leaked something by now. Something like that wouldn't stay a secret for long.

And even if William Shatner agreed to be in Picard, he'd never permit himself to play second-fiddle. The plot would have to revolve around Picard not being able to save the day without him. This series isn't about Kirk living up to the legend he was. It's about Picard living up to the legend he was.

When they decided to kill all Cardassians pretty sure nuance left then.

That was just the female changeling though. And she did it because Cardassia had turned against them. We had already seen with the Quickening virus that the founders punished those who tried to fight back.

Wasn't there some talk about one of Data's neurons being discovered after the Nemesis battle and was used to make Soji. Am I missing something about that? I forgot, how was Soji data's "daughter"?

The Dominion infecting the Teplans with the Blight is just one example of their villainy. I can only imagine how many races they killed off.

Their body count can't be anywhere near the Borg's level, but the Dominion is probably the only entity who can even approach them.
