Spock wasn't treated much better in "Unification" - they made him seem like a naive dipshit who would have fallen into a trap without the TNG crew there to save the day.
"Sarek" might be the best of those TNG episodes.

You’re right but he was kind of this in TUC, if you think about it.

I wonder if Kirk emerging from the Nexus in the 24th century was covered up or if he was given a ceremonial funeral by Starfleet. Regardless it looks like the grave robbing Section 31 stole his remains to keep them as a ghoulish exhibit. Amazing how they managed to make off with both Kirk and Picard's bodies without anyone noticing.

It's almost like they're a organization practiced in deceit and subterfuge or something.

Didn’t she say they broke up in the first episode of season 3?

Coming late to the party, I was unclear whether they had really broken up and or whether that just part of her cover story while she was pretending to have relapsed into substance abuse and fallen on hard times.

As I recall, she first mentions the breakup while she's pretending to be a strung-out junkie. I wasn't sure how literally to that since she's explicitly putting on an act there.

But it seems they did break up after all.

As for bringing back the Bounty . . . well, "the one with the whales" is one of my all-time favorite Trek movies, which, by total coincidence, I had just rewatched a few nights before, so I absolutely loved that bit. Ate it up with a spoon.

It made me grin, which, to my mind, is reason enough to go there.
