To return to the swearing thing for a moment... I suppose I just find it a ridiculous thing to comment on. Some people - for whatever reasons, few if any of which involve "pearl clutching" - don't care for profanity. So what? Does it actually matter? Frankly, I'd rather reserve my derision / disgust / ire / whatever for things that actually matter and actually affect people's (real) lives. Stuff like sexism, misogyny, racism, homophobia and the like. People who don't care for profanity don't even begin to register with me. The other stuff does.
Now you're just being too reasonable for the Internet. Agreed. That's why I've refrained from even commenting on the profanity thing . . . until now. It's small potatoes. Totally inconsequential.

Seven to Shaw: "And judging by the state of the corpse [of the Transporter Chief] in sickbay, [the Changeling's] been on the ship since before we picked up Dr. Crusher and her son."

Let’s just hope it’s not Laris, just to clear the decks for Crushcard.

^
I'd be quite okay with Laris being off the scene, but each to their own.
for some it isn’t about being offended by profanity so much as a sort of chip or dent in the world building.
Yes, I know, and I get that. It wasn't the point of my post.
Now you're just being too reasonable for the Internet.
You'd think I'd know better than that by now. :(

ETA: Additional comment.

On a completely unrelated matter, I'm not sure it makes a ton of sense for Jack to have been one of the kids listening to Picard's speech 5 years ago. Why would he show his face in public like that?
My understanding of that scene is that Jack had come to the pub to check out Picard and maybe reveal himself but after that answer he decided not to.
I had been given to understand that he and Beverly had been on the run for most of his life...
no, only in the last few weeks.

We got rid of one changeling. Let’s just assume they never work in pairs ok.

Side note: what's this about marital troubles between Riker and Troi? They seemed fairly tight in "Nepenthe" in S1. And Thad has been dead for some time. So why is it only NOW that they're at loggerheads?

Losing a child is probably the most traumatic event a couple can experience. It can take decades for people to effectively deal with it. Some people never do. Like @fireproof78 said, Grief isn't linear. It comes and it goes. Some days can feel normal while others feel like hell. In the snapshots we see of Riker and Troi's life everything seems fine, but what about all the days we haven't seen?

There is also the fact that the ban on synthetics has been lifted, which may have been immensely triggering to Riker and led to feelings he felt he had dealt with resurfacing.

Sorry to derail this fascinating discussion of cursing in a tv show but a plot question:

When they leave the “nebula” Riker has enough power for a tractor beam and for warp. The asteroid gambit really fries the Strike - it has explicitly no warp or impulse - why not take it out? It’s a proven enemy ship, hostile, and seems to be helpless. Beam off the crew if need be. Titan’s phasers should be functional even if photons were depleted. What am I missing?

Riker disabled the ship. Enough for them to get away. To just go back and destroy a helpless ship would be to akin to murder. The shrike was no longer a threat and the Titan was safely on its way back.

Well, there was only one Boungelliki bucket found onboard the Titan…. Perhaps they should start looking for more buckets *just incase*. The presence of such buckets is more conclusive than blood screenings as evidence of a Changeling infiltration. Perhaps Boungelliki buckets have a unique metallurgical signature which can be scanned for? The recovered bucket from episode 03x04 should be taken to a science lab for further analysis, internal sensors and Tricorders could have their scanning frequencies modulated to the recovered bucket’s unique energy signature in order to triangulate the location of other Founder buckets.

They were out of energy and about to die. Then they were just barely recharging their warp drive to escape. No power or time for fireworks.

He did wear a hoodie :p

That so-called "rule" has been broken many times since TUC. So I'm leaning towards "it never existed".

Riker did yell that Kestra should stop yelling, then was stunned when Picard showed up. They brushed their issues aside because he was in danger.

I feel like a lot of Starfleet Janitors are going to get accused of being Changelings now.

I don’t think so, Boungelliki buckets are quite unique in design. At first I assumed that they were of Bajoran construction.

But I was wrong.

Where was this established? Bev says he went to Oxford. And that they've been out on the edge of "known space" giving humanitarian aid. The on the run thing seems to be a recent development.
Jack was probably still at Oxford, when he popped over to LA and managed to catch Picard's story to those Starfleet "kids". More than likely he was hoping to run into dad at one his known haunts. Things did not go as planned.

I thought he studied in London?
Kings or UCL I imagine.

Per Beverly’s line of thinking, Jack was only going to be in danger if someone found out he was JLP’s son. Since only he and his mom knew, I would think he could show his face anywhere because no one knows who he is and it’s been so long with zero contact, no one would suspect such a thing.

Unless it’s acceptable to go around using your medical tricorder to scan strangers’ DNA in the 24th century, then he’s got a problem.

20 years have passed since the events of DS9. Boungelliki bucket technology has obviously been refined over the decades. I wonder what the silver strips are for, they obviously serve a function? Perhaps the buckets were adapted for some reason yet to be explained on screen? These silver strips look to be some form of field emitters or matter pattern enhancers? Perhaps regenerating Changelings now need some form of ‘enhanced support’ whilst in their liquid state which these Boungelliki augmentations facilitate.

The similarities between buckets are still quite profound.

Perhaps Bajoran bucket design *was* augmented and enhanced with Boungelliki technology? This would explain the discrepancies?

Personally, I explain the design change in my head canon in the same way that the Enterprise NCC 1701 has different looks throughout the various iterations of Trek, such as in Pike and JJ land as compared to TOS.

It *can’t* possibly actually be Odo’s bucket though, can it? If it was, as I have mentioned earlier, it would mean that he has been killed off after going rogue.

Odo should return in a future episode to help clarify? This has quite literally turned in to a whole bucket of worms, hasn’t it.

Is it possible that this is also a Boungelliki bucket from the 2360’s?

The Conspiracy parasites may have actually been eating Changelings?

It's almost surely not the "Conspiracy" parasites.

I've been wrong before but in this case, eh, likely not. ;)
