Did they do test audience viewings before the premiere? This happens all the time in order to do last-minute course corrections.

I just told you....test audiences. They do it with tv, just like with film. Well before the airdates...

By the time the episodes are ready to view, Season 3 would still be mostly finished.

But there's no evidence they had test screenings for Season 2.

I found the season's style a bit frantic for my tastes. It reminds me of J.J. Abrams' style in his Star Trek films. And I wasn't a fan.

I agree with Dar70. Stewart only changed his mind after the poor reception of the first two seasons. He wa adamant about not going through tng route and here we are season 3 going the tng route. They are doing what fans wanted all along and what they should have done 4 years ago. A lot of wasted time to experiment. So yeah it's funny.

Could always ask Terry on twitter.

I know the director for the new Indiana Jones film outright said there's been no test screenings after rumours came out about screenings.

Was going to bring that up. Again they don't always want it to get out. But they went back for reshoots. Which could have been because of Doomcock spreading rumors or bad test screenings. It's not something producers want to get out there and admit to. Which i don't blame them ...it gives bad press/word of mouth for their product.

PIC Season 2 looks like it was designed to write out most of the original cast. If PIC Season 3 was a reaction to Season 2, then those characters wouldn't have been written out at the end of S2, they'd be written out at the beginning of S3.

Rios falling in love with Teresa is integral to most of the season. Jurati merging with the Borg Queen is pivotal for the vast majority of the season. Elnor has virtually nothing to do for the most of the season, except be dead. Soji was written out and Kore is just a place-holder for her so Isa Briones could still be part of the season. They wrote these characters out because they knew they weren't coming back for Season 3.

The entire last seven to eight episodes are geared towards writing these characters out. These weren't things that were inserted after the fact. They're too integral and too embedded into the overall story flow. They don't look tacked on. If they were tacked on, it would be easy to tell.

"But maybe they didn't like the first two or three episodes!" No. That's bullshit. The first two episodes were generally better-received than the rest of the season.

If you pay attention to Season 2 -- and I can't take for granted that the people complaining actually did -- it's clear that they didn't change things due to reactions. They knew they wanted Season 3 to be a Big TNG Reunion. That's why they paved the way for it by getting rid of most of the original cast.

Raffi is the most Picard-esque character of PIC and they kept her around.

Indeed. It seems Matlas had his idea, and Stewart was in agreement so it got made.

I know fans love the power trip but this is not their power.
To whom? Where is the humor in this? This strikes me as laughing at a car accident.

Did they test the entirety of Season 2 and then hastily rewrite all of Season three? Not seeing that fit with the time frame.

They got rid of two characters. Elnor was barely in it. So I'm not counting him. They kept three. Picard, Seven, Rafi. Who really knows what the plan was for sure. They had roughly a Week and a half to film each episode. Who knows how many rewrites they went through during that time period. It's one story but 10 episodes. Rewrites are routinely done right there during filming an hours worth of content on many tv shows.

We don't really know. Yup, so we speculate based upon our biases.

This is true. But I will say some of the ridiculous crap that I heard come out of some of the writers mouths during Discovery season 1 I would not put it past any of them to fib a little.
I still laugh at the Klingons shave their heads during war comment .......or different house comments.

Klingons shaving their heads and having different houses makes them way more interesting than TNG ever did with them.

The klingons looked entirely different. It was so badly done. Discovery was the worst when it came to canon. Terrible show.

Good. They're aliens, who experienced an augment virus. They should not look identical, any more than humans should all look identical.

Regardless, who cares? We're past that and supposedly the purists have their precious canon back and yet all people do is whine about the past?

Wow. So, Season 3 is the greatest eh? So much so we don't hardly talk about it and look to the past for past hurts, ills, and supposed insults to the precious canon...give me a break. :shifty::rolleyes:[/QUOTE]

I don't use "headcanon" often, but I've decided the best way to look at Season 1 of Discovery is that Michael Burnham is an unreliable narrator, and we see Klingons as monstrous because that's how she perceived them.
