When did the Janeway hatred truly start to coalesce?

Unlike your high school Spanish class, Spanish translations typically don't change proper names. They might swap wording, to make the statement fit better. And, they'll often swap measuring systems, since most Spanish speakers are more familiar with metric measures (in "The Neverending Story", 10,000 miles became 16,000 kilometers). It's actually interesting to hear them jabber along, too fast for my two years of mostly forgotten high school Spanish to translate, and then a proper name gets thrown in, same as we say it.

Janeway's argument...

I butchered a person, so that two different people had a complete set of parts.

That's Vidiian thinking.

Is she a Vidiian sympathsizer, or was she brain washed to up hold Vidiian sympathies?

Neelix lost his lungs to lungs to those ###ks. He would die before admitting that the Vidiians are right.

Captain Janeway's tears could cure the Phage. Too bad she's never cried (outside of "Coda", which wasn't really happening).

Wow. Is it...is it actually possible that there was a directive from on high (or, more simply, "upstairs") that prevented the character from crying lest she be perceived as weak and/or stereotypically feminine?

Berman was notorious for harassing actresses. Definitely possible. Mulgrew may not have wanted to show any vulnerability either - only female captain up to that point.

Why does it matter whether Janeway has cried or not? Is anyone concerned about the other Trek leads shedding tears?
Spock did. I thought it was a good story.

If Janeway did it would not be a problem.

Picard did.

Kirk did in the movies.

Yeah, double standards are ongoing and annoying.
