When did the Janeway hatred truly start to coalesce?

I'm pretty sure I remember the Voyager being displaced into the Delta Quadrant before the Equinox as didn't Janeway state in an early episode that there weren't any other Federation ships missing? But I think it is made clear in the two part episode that the Equinox has been lost for much longer in the Expanse? Strange that both ships made different enemies by different decisions.

Janeway did say in "STATE OF FLUX" that there were no missing ships to her knowledge. But Equinox was definitely taken by the Caretaker first. How long before, we don't know.

Really? I just watched both parts of "Equinox" about a week ago and I don't remember any kind of reference to indicate that the Equinox was lost first. Oh, I guess you're assuming since we see the Caretaker's fate? That's logical.

But I think it stands to reason that both ships must have been tossed into the DQ at around the same time; otherwise Starfleet would have noted the absence of the first ship and presumably transmitted some sort of fleet-wide notice that at least the other ship's captain (or its computer) would have seen. But neither Voyager nor the Equinox is aware of the other's status until they stumble on each other.

I expect the Krowtonian Guard scanned Voyager and realized that unlike the puny older ship it has spanked earlier, this was a new, state of the art ship that could really mess them up. They let Voyager pass through their territory, and breathed a sigh of relief once they were gone.

Or, another possibility: by the time Voyager showed up, the Vidiians had found the Krowtonians, and begun large scale organ harvesting. So they were too busy dealing with being systematically dismembered to bother with a ship in their territory.

Well we know from "Dreadnought" that Caretaker was stealing people for about a year-ish. I would hope Equinox got stolen from somewhere other than the Badlands unlike the three of four other ships so maybe no one knew what happened to the ship, but also just because Voyager the show didn't say anything about it before the episodes doesn't mean Voyager the ship didn't know.

I saw the episode in Spanish back then, on TV. I remember that during the rescue the Captain mentioned that they were taken there by an alien whose name I had not heard about yet, but Janeway interrupted "we'll compare notes later" (things were about to explode). I understood that it was someone else who got them there then. Did he say that it was the Caretaker and the translators failed to get the reference to the first episode? After all it was just a line, they did not get to compare notes on the way they got there, but rather their experiments with the bat creatures.

Janeway said Voyager was pulled into the Delta Quadrant and at the same at the end, they both said 'Caretaker'. Then she said they'll compare notes later.

It's also possible Equinox was taken anytime in that year or so when it also took Dreadnought, but instead of Starfleet declaring Equinox missing, they might have listed it as destroyed due to the plasma storms.

I tend to think this is the reason, rather than a recent listing of lost, because if a ship was declared lost that close in time to Janeway's mission to find the Maquis ship, I'm sure Starfleet would have included in her briefing of any current searching for any missing Starfleet ships.

[Equinox Bridge]

(Janeway and Tuvok break in. They find the helmsman, Burke is uninjured. Ransom in unconscious. Janeway scans him then puts her hand on his cheek. He wakes.)
RANSOM: My crew?
JANEWAY: You took heavy casualties. We're treating the survivors. Who attacked you?
RANSOM: We don't know. We can't communicate with them. They've been attacking us for weeks.
JANEWAY: Easy, easy.
RANSOM: I've got to secure the ship,
JANEWAY: Leave that to us.
(She tries to put a Voyager comm. badge on him.)
RANSOM: No, treat me here. I'm not leaving my bridge.
JANEWAY: I can't pull rank on you, Captain, but you're in no condition to put up a fight.
RANSOM: So, how's Earth?
JANEWAY: I wish I could say.
RANSOM: You weren't sent here to find us?
JANEWAY: I'm afraid not. We've been stranded in the Delta Quadrant for five years. We were pulled here against our will by an alien called
BOTH: The Caretaker.
JANEWAY: We'll compare notes later on. Let's get you to Voyager.

I'd just like to add that both ships took different routes back home. Both encountered the laboratory of the Caretaker but the Equinox was released before Voyager. The Voyager had many battles with the Kazon while Ransom took on the Krowtonians instead of discovering Vidians and the Borg they found other races instead!

The ships are powered by Deturium, which is found with their bussard collectors, which can only happen "well" inside a planetary system near a star.

Stargate Universe made such a big deal about their ships filling up the tank by feeding off of stars, but star trek had been doing the same thing all along.

Voyager only needed to go to every 5th star.

Smaller Equinox needed to go to every third star.

The Equinox's abduction might have been recent enough that its disappearance hadn't been noticed yet, at the time of Voyager being taken.

Star Fleet knows that every time Rudy sees a Pakled Warship, he goes radio silent for a week.
