There is one point in the comments I can understand ... that without the super serum, Sam is just another guy. I wonder if they will address that in the movie?
Just another guy. A highly trained military para-rescue, with a state of the art flight suit, a shield that can effectively block anything on earth and a Wakandan made (and thus probably vibranium) uniform. Who spent years fighting and training alongside Steve Rogers. But sure, just another guy.
Yes, that "just another guy" statement has always been suspicion-inducing, but its nothing new where criticisms of Sam Wilson as Captain America are concerned. Not only is the criticism unjustified (considering all of the non-powered humans routinely fighting super-robots, enhanced people and aliens in the MCU, yet few complain about that...yeah...), but if anyone ever read...you know...the comics, they would know Sam already took on the Captain America ID.
No, he isn't super strong. But neither was Natasha, and quite frankly Sam comes out the better in that comparison with all his equipment factored in.
Of course, but there's just
something that bothers the Hell out of certain MCU fans about Wilson as Cap.....
Also, if you (or, perhaps more accurately, the commenters in question) think that what made Captain America had anything to do with Steve's super strength, you (or they) weren't paying attention. What made Steve Great was the man he was, not the power in his body.
Well put, and MCU-Sam is one of the few characters who is as consistently upstanding and wisely placing his job / motives in a historical context as Rogers. They are unique among MCU characters, with traits as much a vital part of being Captain America as shields or Super Soldier experiments.
The most significant takeaways from the article:
"And again, as a paranoid thriller, it's this grounded adventure where I think that everything that happens in this film feels so real and intense..."
Excellent. Its going to be a
grounded, paranoid thriller (with fantasy elements, of course), just like the greatest of all MCU films by far,
Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That is exactly how a Cap film should be written / structured, and the added bonus of The Leader being the main villain--directly picking up where the
The Incredible Hulk left off for the character makes this
the MCU film I anticipate the most.
