But the Kamala Khan character just had her own solo production, as well. I thought there would be one for Monica, after the events of "WandaVision", but apparently not.
All MCU projects are announced well in advance. We've known for a while now that
WandaVision was meant to set Monica up for
The Marvels.
I've read all the posts and see them as nothing more than excuses. I'm sorry. Not only will I be skipping "The Marvels", but I'm going to encourage others to skip it as well. Not surprisingly, the MCU's take on being progressive is half-done as usual.
Huh? They just made a whole series starring a Pakistani-American Muslim female superhero. How is that not progressive? Not to mention that this is a movie with three female leads, when in the first three phases we had no female-led movies.
And it's bizarre to imply that the MCU is somehow being racist when we've got upcoming productions including
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Blade, the Anthony Mackie-led
Captain America, the Sam Jackson-led
Secret Invasion,
Echo (starring a deaf Native American woman), and
Ironheart.
Not to mention it's illogical to assume that just because Monica didn't get a solo project before
The Marvels, she will somehow be less than equal within
The Marvels. There are plenty of cases where an MCU character has had a smaller role in one production and an equal or starring role in the next. Presumably the whole point of calling it
The Marvels is that it's about all three of them equally.
Do you have a reason why she shouldn't? Or an excuse? Why should there be solo projects for Carol and Kamala and not Monica?
If you're already predisposed to dismiss any argument that doesn't affirm your beliefs as an "excuse," then it's a waste of time to try to convince you of anything. But why would you
expect every single MCU character to have a solo film? There's never been a solo film or series for Bucky Barnes, even though the Winter Soldier has been and continues to be a major MCU player. There's never been a solo film for Wong, yet he keeps showing up everywhere and is kind of a breakout star lately. The MCU has a deep bench of continuing supporting players. Not everyone in it
needs their own self-titled work to be important.
