"Whatever happens tomorrow, you must promise me one thing. That you will remain who you are. Not a perfect soldier, but a good man."

--Abraham Erskine to Steve Rogers the day before the Super Soldier experiment.

    "You're good man, Sam."

--Steve Rogers to Sam Wilson when he passed the shield.

Yeah, the serum isn't what makes a person Captain America, nor is it the shield, or the spangley outfit. I think that's been very firmly established right from the get-go, and re-emphasised multiple times since. So the idea that a guy who's been an Avenger for *years* just can't cut it is frankly dumb. He can and has been cutting it this whole time.

Exactly. Also, in my eyes, what made Sam even more qualified to be Captain America was that he was the first Avenger to recognize the questionable aspect of the Sokovia Accords. And he was the first to reject it. I know many claim that Steve was the first and others - including Sam - had simply followed his example. But it was Sam who had first rejected it. Steve had merely flip-flopped on the idea, until midway into "Civil War".

Yes, that "just another guy" statement has always been suspicion-inducing, but its nothing new where criticisms of Sam Wilson as Captain America are concerned. Not only is the criticism unjustified (considering all of the non-powered humans routinely fighting super-robots, enhanced people and aliens in the MCU, yet few complain about that...yeah...), but if anyone ever read...you know...the comics, they would know Sam already took on the Captain America ID.

Of course, but there's just something that bothers the Hell out of certain MCU fans about Wilson as Cap.....

Well put, and MCU-Sam is one of the few characters who is as consistently upstanding and wisely placing his job / motives in a historical context as Rogers. They are unique among MCU characters, with traits as much a vital part of being Captain America as shields or Super Soldier experiments.

The most significant takeaways from the article:

"And again, as a paranoid thriller, it's this grounded adventure where I think that everything that happens in this film feels so real and intense..."

Excellent. Its going to be a grounded, paranoid thriller (with fantasy elements, of course), just like the greatest of all MCU films by far, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That is exactly how a Cap film should be written / structured, and the added bonus of The Leader being the main villain--directly picking up where the The Incredible Hulk left off for the character makes this the MCU film I anticipate the most.

Which was kind of the entire point of Falcon and the Winter Soldier--guess that went over some people's heads?

The Super Soldier serum is probably why Kingpin is so physically powerful in Hawkeye which could imply a connection to the serum production operation in Europe. Perhaps Kingpin partially bankrolled the production of the serum.

Well, that going over the heads of a certain faction of MCU fans is to be expected, when the only thing in their heads is the race of the man wearing the stars and stripes.

The complaints about this Israeli Superhero in Captain America 4 is a bit pathetic too. She's been around for 40 years, and only NOW are people complaining?

Haas looks to be perfectly cast as Sabra. The toxic fans only amuse me now. They long ago jumped the shark with their vitriol, but they still keep circling back for more.

I hate to defend them, but to be fair the character has never been in a movie or TV show before, and that's probably all those people pay attention to.

I mostly like that all of these obscure characters keep upping the price on the comics in my collection that I'll never sell!

Both her AND Leader started out as Hulk antagonists, fitting in a way that they're appearing together. Though in a Cap movie, but still, pretty cool just to see 'em.

Not to my knowledge, no. She hasn't been used a lot. Only 3 or 4 times in the Hulk that I can recall off-hand.
