I love SNW but it also had the fairy tale episode. By far and away the worst nuTrek episode by far IMO.First off everyone is entitled to their opinion. Lovers and Haters alike. As far as defense.
The show should do that on its own.
So far, SNW doesnt need any defense from the audience, its taking care of itself just fine.
I hope so as well. The non-ensemble, not exploring the bridge crew too deeply was my preferred style as well. I know many will push back against this idea, but I watched TOS for Spock and Kirk, and maybe McCoy or Scotty. I didn't watch it for the bridge crew. They were fine but not my reason for engaging with the show. If Spock alone had been the lead I would have enjoyed it the same.I wish DSC didn't walk back closer to the classic ensemble. It's probably too late now, but I wish they had made it even more of a one man/woman show from the beginning, unapologetically.
Oh well. There's still more series to come fortunately, which hopefully take their their freedoms with this aspect and be creative - and especially different and fresh, which is very important in keeping a franchise like Star Trek alive.
Four seasons in, Discovery remains quite a polarizing show. Some love it, other do not. Some think the show is perfect as is, others think the show is weak, and some think it makes for a good sci-fi show but not a good Star Trek show. In any case, opinions tend to be very strong, regardless as to which side is taken.
Since everyone has different ideas as to what Discovery could be, should be, or what improvements would make the show better and more enjoyable to watch to a wider audience, I would like to know how you would change Discovery. if you would make any changes at all. It can be one change, or several, or no changes whatsoever, but I look forward to reading your thoughts on the matter.

I think the worst episode of New Trek is the one where an FBI Guy is interrogating Picard.
One of the early elements of DSC I liked is that it did away with the classic ensemble show.
The formula is a bit stale IMO and only works so well in SNW because all the characters are unusually well written and are given time to shine (for the most part). It's just that the formula tends to be so constricting and hinder creativity in the kind and style of stories to be told.
Also, I don't think there should be more than one series at a time following that classic rigid ensemble pattern of mainly the bridge crew, being the captain; first oficer; doctor; chief engineer; helmsman; chief of security; tactical; etc.
And SNW does that right now already. Again, at the moment very well admittedly.
(I am very aware how much that rigid ensemble concept seems to be inherent feature of Star Trek for many fans. To the point of making it hard for them to enjoy DSC due to being overly confused and distracted by some vacant/non-existant or simply not featured positions. "Who is the CMO?!? Why have we never seen the chief engineer?!? I don't know the name of the helmsman!"
I've also noticed how from the very beginning of PRO there were lively discussion about which kid should be in which position. PRO especially should be following a much more relaxed ensemble concept, with kids swapping positions IMO. Since they're, you know, kids and still developing.)

I hope they will be more creative and willing to play with different formats than just go "Star Trek=ensemble." That's not inspiring to me.
YMMV.
It's essentially a holodeck episode which are always crap (except badgey)I love SNW but it also had the fairy tale episode. By far and away the worst nuTrek episode by far IMO.
Saru is the best character in the series, and Michael is the main character, so no thanks.Get rid of Saru, and dial Michael's spotlight hogging down about 75%
