No chance they are actual Cage ones? I have no idea if they kept things like that for posterity but would be cool if they did get them from a collection and used the originals.
Probably not. They're easy enough to replicate accurately and cheaply. Hell, I can get a decent repro for $100.

The TOS pullover shirts with a velour shimmer. :)

Don't know why the site isn't displaying new posts on this thread for me anymore. Eh.

Anyway, I noticed that, in addition to the lights behind the deflector dish in this episode, if you look behind the "grilles" of the back of the nacelles, you can see a round thing there... certainly a reference to the "balls" that were there after the original pilots.

Honestly, the only way to make a sense of uniforms in the CBS trek era is to say that there are always concurrent designs in active service. This solves neatly any conflict and allows for multiple uniforms to be used at the same time.

Thanks. very cool easter egg indeed, clearer image here: https://twitter.com/TheTrekCentral/status/1543247088930144258

Probably not that much. If anything it gives me a lot photoshop feeling (but I might be wrong).

I doubt any of those survived in any usable shape. They never struck me as very sturdy.
Yup. Either concurrent designs or when a starship is on a five year mission they don't get updated uniforms until they get back. So then we might get more than one style in service.

Wouldn't be the first time that's happened – we already saw it between the Enterprise and Discovery, between the Cerritos and most other ships, and before then between the crew of Deep Space 9 and the Enterprise-D. Clearly there's a well-established precedent for Starfleet having multiple uniform designs concurrently.

I wonder if we’ll ever see either of the Disco uniforms again?
I highly doubt it. I think April's was the closest we would get to the blues, which I liked as a nice transition from the KELVIN unifroms to the TOS style tunics. But. I have a distinct feeling that the efforts to make each show feel a little bit different will result in the blues being retired.

Indeed. I had to laugh when I saw the "Cage" uniforms being worn in "The Man Trap" by background extras. It's been going on for a while.

Yup. It's happened before I'm earlier series.

A "Cage" Era Starfleet Academy shirt is being worn by a background extra in "The Trouble With Tribbles."
Yup. With the starfleet tailors designing so many uniforms it has to be hard for the crew to keep up. The Maroon ones were probably the longest ones in service.

At least 71 years. 2278-2349. The first one chronologically we see wearing it is Captain Morgan Bateson and the last is Jack Crusher in his 2349 hologram recording to his newborn son Wesley. By 2350 photographs from that year show Starfleet officers wearing the TNG Season 1 and 2 uniform.

Yup. About 71 years. Nice calculation. I suspect the head tailor for starfleet uniforms kept his job well into his 90s or early 100s and just didn't want much change. They were altered at bit during Picards ensign days and Wesley's dad's time but not by much. Just the undershirt.

They got rid of the ribbed collar undershirt, replaced it with a smooth collar undershirt and then got rid of the undershirt and belt altogether.

Actually one thing they never touched on in this episode is whether Gary Mitchell was aboard the USS Farragut or not (or even perhaps killed in the Romulan attack on the ship.)

In TOS S1 - Where No Man Has Gone Before, Dr. Elizabeth Dehner, states that Kirk asked for Gary Mitchell to be aboard his first command. So, given that the USS Farragut was Kirk's first command in the alternate timeline, one has to wonder what Gary's status actually was in that timeline.

Was he even on the Farragut and if he was did he survive the Romulan attack?
