This is getting a bit much. Pike's accident is so horrific because it's senseless and probably preventable, like many real life tragedies. Now it's being romanticized such that the galaxy as we know it will end if he doesn't go get fried. They've basically turned him into the Federation's First Servant who suffers horrifically so his people can be free, a concept he rejected just a few weeks ago. Maybe Alora can show up to point out Pike's hypocrisy (yeah the First Servant was a kid but he was also shown to have adult level intelligence and we really don't know the species' maturity rate is equivalent to humans')
Maybe at this point just turn Pike's beeping wheelchair into Warhammer 40,000's golden throne with beeping Pike the Emperor who's suffering for the galaxy. I think Star Trek's having issues if it's romanticizing Warhammer 40k philosophy of all things now.
