    So we're down to the final three episodes of the season. this season looks to be a M'Benga centric episode so What do you think we'll see in the final two? What do you guys wanna see in the final two episodes of the Season and do you think they'll throw us a curve ball and show us Paul Wesley as James Kirk at the final scene of the season finale? if not what kind of cliffhanger do you wanna see?

    Just realized Anson Mount read a great Karl Edward Wagner story called, 'Where the Summer Ends' for PseudoPod in 2019. Didn't clue to the connection when listening last year.

    Things in the trailers that we haven't seen yet:

    • The wreckage of a crashed Constitution-class starship;
    • A small, presumably infant or child version of a reptilian species, possibly a Gorn;
    • Odd, bat-eared aliens who appear to be facing off against an Enterprise landing or security party, where Uhura is called upon by La'an to pinch-hit for the Universal Translator ("That's not how linguistics works!").

    What else?

    Reminds me of something I've been thinking. Uhura is basically Hoshi. Her ability with a number of Earth languages that would leave the rest of us hiding in a dark corner crying, allows her to intuitively see patterns in alien languages that 99.999% of us would be oblivious to. I've actually met someone like her and it blew my mind. Makes sense to present her this way (as it did Hoshi) even though we really didn't see this in TOS.

    I approve of the SNW Uhura, almost as much as I adored the TOS Uhura.

    BTW I worked for years as an ESL tutor and that's how I met the person I referred to.

    I think that's also on the crashed constitution.

    Are we guessing that the crashed starship somehow involves Kirk yet?

    I'm guessing not since the actor playing younger Kirk is in scenes shot for Season 2. It might be the Farragut so Sam Kirk could mention that the crashed starship was his younger brother's last known posting and we get a "James Kirk" or "Jim Kirk" reference but my guess is we don't see anything of Lieutenant Kirk until next season.

    For UK viewers, Paramount+ is available as a subscription service from tomorrow, 22 June. However, if you subscribe to Sky Cinema, you will get all Paramount+ content bundled in from tomorrow including SNW and Halo. Great news for me as I already have a Sky Cinema subscription and was doubtful about paying for a Paramount+ one as well. As I'm currently getting Sky Cinema discounted for six months at £4.99 per month and Paramount+ will be £6.99 per month, it's really a double win.

    Yes, I've speculated as such on that matter.

    Heh ... Doesn't your answer imply that Yes, it "somehow involves" James Kirk?
    (which is what I asked) :p

    Thanks, I must have missed that particular post of yours. :techman:

    So this week's episode shows the usual story where the heroes are suddenly in an alternate universe and only 1 of them remembers the real timeline (in this case it seems to be M'Benga).

    Marvel has done this story repeatedly in the comics, most memorably in Age of Apocalypse and House of M. Interestingly enough, a few years back they did another such story called 'Age of X-Man' in which superpowered mutant Nate Grey "X-Man" sent the X-Men into his own fantasy world where mutants had a place in society. Once the X-Men found out about the sham their world was, as usual they went to beat up X-Man, demand he take them back to the real world, etc. The twist was that X-Man then restored the X-Men's memories, showing them the miserable lives they had as hated mutants back on Earth, and taunted them if that's what they missed so much and if they really want to go back to that.

    Maybe there should be a similar element with Pike in this episode, where he remembers that if he goes back to the real timeline he'll go back to likely being injured by delta radiation.

    Saw the same image earlier on Twitter and had to double take before I figured which one was Peck. Uncanny.

    Since TOS began mid-mission, why not have the last few episodes of SNW, whenever that happens, be of Kirk taking over the Enterprise? We've never seen that happen.

    I haven't seen Episode 7 yet, so maybe that's the one, but I'd hope we get to know Ortegas better before the end of the shows' first run.

    Where do you get the impression that it's an alternate universe? The only thing we know from the previews is that something has somehow changed the interiors of the ship and changed everyone's clothes and personalities, though M'Benga apparently keeps his personality and memory. All of this can have another explanation other than alternate reality.

    All the more so once you factor in behind the scenes information revealing that
    everyone has somehow turned into characters from the book M'Benga reads to his daughter.
