Seems amused to me!

That makeup test wasn't for Number One. They were just using Majel to test the makeup that would eventually use on Susan Oliver as the Orion Slave in Pike's fantasy strip joint.
Well, I gave my source for that information. Do you have a link or source for yours?

No one in the UK is broadcasting them. And my pension doesn't stretch to streaming subscriptions. :)
Hey... if you get a VPN maybe you can subscribe to Crave.tv in Canada. They've got everything except the movies. ;)

(Disclaimer in advance : I still love this show & very much liked this episode. Just not this part: )

There's nothing "dark" about protecting your daughter from a disease.
M'Benga's secret is exactly as "dark" as Una's:
It's not their own fault, they're actually good people yada yada, and in oldTrek none of these would be an issue as the Federation would help with their resources.

But at the same time - they absolutely lied to get on board, Una must have had faked a shit-ton of medical examinations, the doctor sneaked a freakin' child in a box on board & told nobody that turning the power of will kill her and both basically put other people's trust and life at risk.

With Julian Bashir that was much better handled - as there was no doubt that very specific, forbidden work was done on him, and the problem was him lying about that as much as the act himself.

In nuTrek the Federation is always dumb, prejudicial, and it comes down to the strong man defying stupid regulations. That's too easy.

Also, not EVERY freakin' character needs a dramatic backstory! It's allowed to just have professionals on board doing an interesting but dangerous job.

There's actually nothing canonical to indicate that the Denobulans ever joined the Federation. It's just a common assumption fans have made, but for all we know Denobula might still be an independent world in 2401.

Yes. But it messes with the whole "Federation discriminates against outsiders"-thing this episode was going for. They're clearly on good terms with Denobulans from ENT to LD.

*shakes head.* You no listening. Anyway rural download speeds of 3mb/s make it pointless.
Hey, just trying to help by making suggestions. :(

You didn't tell me about a bad connection. I thought it was just a lack of streaming provider.

And 3 mb per second (assuming that's bytes and not bits) is better than my city connection, so you could definitely watch them without lag.

With youtube when I had dial up, 15 years ago (I know! It cost a dollar a month, and all I did with it was browse this place.) I'd just wait an hour for the 20 mb tube to load into my browser completely, and then I could watch the thing like a movie, with no lag.

Does Paramount + not work like that?

I don't know. Paramount+ isn't available here in Canada, or in the UK. For some reason they still think the internet has borders, or something.

Streaming service Paramount Plus will become available to UK audiences on 22 June 2022, it has been confirmed. The news comes as part of a range of announcements by ViacomCBS following an investor day meeting on Tuesday 3 May.3/05/2022

Paramount + UK

Making a subsidiary might have something to do with 10's of millions of untaxed pounds fleeing the Kingdom every month?

Well, there you go!

The problem is moot.

Chakoteya can't afford to legally stream, and doesn't have the bandwidth to legally stream either.

I used to get next years episodes of Voyager on videotape in the mail from friends in America.

I wonder how illegal that was?

3 megabytes is plenty to stream (that's basically what I have). 3 megabits? Not so much. But often the streaming adapts to your bandwidth by adjusting the quality of the video. It depends on the service. Come June she'll at the very least have access to such a stream, though whether it'll be affordable, I don't know.

I wonder how illegal that was?
If Paramount wants people to watch Trek legally they might want to make it available legally.

Ya know, he could have materialized her (into his quarters), let them upgrade the transporter system, then put her back. IIRC, it wasn't the upgrade that would "kill" her, but the upgrade needing a cold restart.

CBSAA/Paramount+ has been in Canada since 2018. It's the only place you can stream any of the Trek movies in Canada.

The deal they made with Bell to air the new shows on TV and stream on Crave must have been pretty good if they haven't pulled them like they did in the rest of the world. Or they can't legally back out of it.

The TV shows (minus the new ones) are also still on Netflix here.

Yeah, it comes down to treating this whole thing as a "dark secret" vs a problem where everyone works together to solve it.

And sorry for being harsh - but sneaking a child on board that can accidentally be killed by someone else pushing the wrong button, and then endangering the whole crew to protect that secret, makes him utterly unfit to work on a starship & he should be released from duty. (But Starfleet scientists should still working with him to find a cure back on earth).

Though I absolutely love the actor, so in this case I'll gladly overlook the betrayal to have the character remain on board.

But still. Not a good look. And especially not a good introduction to the character.

But what about the series? Paramount said SNW was available only in the US and certain other regions on Paramount+.

None of the new series are on Paramount+, just the movies and pre-discovery series.

I'm not subscribed to it. I just go by the site 'justwatch' that archives all this information.

I hate these streaming wars.
3 choices for the pre-discovery series, good
1 choice for movies bad
1 choice for the new series, old series, but no movies bad

Though I own all the movies on home media still so I’m not SOL there.
