This is him being desperate after he lost his robotic sex dolls he had known for five minutes.

I think that he simply doesn't care when a tragedy is not of direct concern to him.

Voted a 7. I had to mark it down one point because of La'an stinking attitude. No idea why in these new shows they think we want to watch people with a bad attitude who can't be civil to their colleagues.

the whole 'they're a super genius but they're attitude stinks' was all the rage in shows around the year 2000 but now it is just tired.

I really liked La'an in the pilot so I hope this was a one off.

At least one person in a group that large is gonna be on the unlikable side. That actually flavors the show for me like when Stamets was jerky Stamets in DSC.

One of my probs with TNG esp after Picard became nicer was that everybody was just kinda blandy-bland nice guys and gals.

Question re: cataloguing comets orbiting other stars: should the catalogue number be preceded by the host star name?

(I think I should direct this to the writers, not the graphic design team.)

I think Belz and co. need their own thread to argue over semantics and pedantics.

They look like holodeck or shuttle bay doors to me. Any idea roughly where these two are standing? Could be leading to the docking port between the impulse engines.

Remember, other people are "challenging" for her. That isn't going to get fixed via one speech from Pike, no matter how charismatic he is. She comes off as a real person who was traumatized by what she went through.

There's nothing behind the door because it's a hollow deck.

Well, technically speaking in this era there are no holodecks, at least not like in TNG. The fact that the corridor there is asymetrical would, to me, suggest that we're looking port or starboard instead of aft or fore.

I noticed this as well. They went out of their way to mention a couple of times how much more powerful the alien ship was, and then Enterprise proceeded to 'handle' it with little difficulty, taking out its weapons with a single shot. There was a bit of confusion at the end as well, when they powered down, feigned being disabled, and asked for a tow. Then that thread was left totally hanging after mentioning that Enterprise was grappled by an alien tractor beam.

Yeah, the "holodeck" part was kind of a ;) moment. But definitely the same kind of double-doors. Engineering maybe?

What could be behind the red door?

    1. Engineering.
    2. Phaser Control.
    3. Environmental Laboratory (where they study the strange, deadly alien microbes)
    4. Could be most of the doors are just painted that color.

It's the door's peculiar size and shape that caught my attention.

Oh, maybe that's a door leading to a gangway on the side of the saucer.

Oh yeah! Main gangway hatch! I'm not sure why I didn't think of that- red doors have vacuum on the other side!

In the lap of squalor I assure you.
This comet travels the galaxy growing life.

So it's not confined to one star.

So that ship has been following the comet for thousands of years at subwarp speeds between stars?

    Or...

The Comet naturally goes to warp between stars, or the command center on the surface takes the comet to warp.

So do the shepherds worship the comet or the command center?
