No. It's the same ship, new look for the 21st century. From Cage to WNMHGB, lots of major refits to the 1701?
And "The Cage"The only evidence that the vessel won't get a refit before Kirk takes over to restore it to its 60s beauty is Ephraim and Dot. Which is about as in-continuity as the Tribbles advert.
It looks like shit is a subjective opinion. I don't think the TOS look could sustain a current show, but I certainly don't feel there is this deep gulf between SNW and TOS. It's just two different ways of telling stories about this period. And "The Cage"
And "Q&A"
As well as, well, the TOS version looks like shit in comparison. And I say that as someone who loves the TOS look![]()
Exactly. I will always enjoy the TOS ship but that doesn't mean I find it needed to be replicated perfectly for this new series. TOS was great. SNW has potential. Neither one takes away from the other.I love the TOS connie, it's my fourth favourite enterprise design, but that doesn't mean I'd want to see it identical.
But nothing's being erased or steamrollered! It's just not being used on this show. Other shows still use it (Prodigy, an Eaglemoss model in the latest Picard episode), and next time they might go back or do something different again.I got the impression those episodes take place before Strange New Worlds.
Personally I just want them to leave it open. End before they confirm one way or the other. They don't have to drive the steamroller over TOS! It hasn't quite gotten there yet! There's still hope!
Wait, where? I only saw an Excelsior and a couple space stations.an Eaglemoss model in the latest Picard episode

I'd take something new over stock footage any day, even if it's a flying saucer made out of a paper plate. That's how much I hate stock footage.
Whoa, I totally missed that! That's awesome.Broken, missing a nacelle. Click!
I don't see it as obviously wrong. It's a dramatic telling of a particular era. One shows it one way, and another shows it another way. The foundational concepts, starships, phasers, tricorders, and other such tech remain the same.I can't reconcile it. If it ever overlaps the time we've already seen then one of the ships has to be wrong
That's because the BBC was too busy erasing Doctor Who video taped episodes to make reuse of their video tapes.Ready to have your mind blown? While original Doctor Who may have looked 'cheap and dated as hell,' it never once reused a ship model or stock footage from past shows or movies to save budget money in the 25+ years it was on the air. Star Trek can't say that, not by a long shot. Which, in my opinion, made Trek look cheap (i.e. the Enterprise-D visiting a brand-new starbase, which was a reuse of stock footage of Regula One from TWOK. Really?)
Probably not.Am I the only one who wants the ship restored to it's TOS looks by WNMHGB?
Neither are wrong. Just like when a character is recast they other one isn't wrong.then one of the ships has to be wrong

(At least Star Trek has never actually lost a filmed episode.)
